Ultimate Game Capture Software Review/Comparison: Phase 1 - Preparation

I think it's time for one person like myself to take the time and actually use and evaluate every one of the current mainstream capture programs and then break it down into a comparison showdown and review.

There probably wont be any clear "best program", however the results will be a clearly defined pros/cons about each program and highlights about what the program is good for and what is is not.

Upon completion you would be able to determine what program might be best for you and why.

120 sq ft 15MP Rear Projection Video Wall Build

120 sq ft 15MP Rear Projection Video Wall Build - (How to build the ulitimate gaming wall for less than a new TV at Best Buy)

Hi All:

I read a lot, but rarely post. I just wanted to share my ultimate creation. I feel like this is how eyefinity should be done. I had to promise my wife I would never bring home a bigger screen and mean it this time. The build took us (my brother and I) all week after work, and it was finished at 2:30ish AM this morning. It still needs color balancing, calibration and such, but it is presentable.

Rusty Hearts: Multi-Monitor Surround Feature Showcase

Just got done producing a cam/fraps combo video showing Rusty Hearts when played in ultra wide resolution across multiple monitors.

The resolution used here is 5940x1200 and the game works great, no slowdowns and no flaws in gameplay. A few cosmetic errors and room for improvement but definitely working.

    Rusty Hearts - First Impressions

Have another first impressions review for you.

This is the new Free to Play MMORPG from Perfect World. It's available now on Steamworks (Steam) as open beta.

Deagle and I put about 4 or 5 hours into it today and despite the general sour taste I have developed for free to play games I think that this one gets the thumbs up from me.

    About the game:

It's a MMORPG - Meaning Massive Multiplayer Online with (Action) RPG elements. Rusty Hearts in particular seems heavily anime influenced. You can go online and create a character on a server and then anybody else on that server will be online with you in a centralized town area.

From here you can chat and socialize and most importantly get your quests and form parties so that you can go into the dungeons.

    Hard Reset - First Impressions

I got Hard Reset the day it was released on Steam.

...have about 3 hours in and just wanted to say I really like this game so far.

Really takes me back to the days when a shooter was based on shooting, skill, fast reflexes and just having fun.

Kind of has that old school Unreal Tournament 2004 feel but merged in with another game that I really liked called Singularity.

Will Someone Please Get S-3D Right?

So, I'm excited about 3D gaming. I really am, I just wish someone could get it right. With three little kids the wife and I don't get out much, but last Christmas we finally made it out to see our first 3D movie (we saw two in fact). I was hooked. The effects in Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader were subtle and well done, and I felt the 3D effects in Tron Legacy really added to the experience.

In March, AMD came to visit and brought with them a PC set up for 3D gaming, based on their HD3D initiative and the Tri-Def DDD software. I had already played around with Stereoscopic 3D (S-3D) gaming a bit on my HDTV with my PS3 and a trial version of the Tri-Def software on my PC. In general I liked S-3D, but found it inconsistent and not on par with my movie going experience. The best titles were those on the PS3, which had been designed or updated by the original devs to support S-3D. I also found myself getting eye fatigue (and on occasion, bad headaches) from my play sessions. This was something I hadn't experienced in the movie theatre.

Windows 8 and Multi-Monitor: Wild Unfounded Speculation

News has been ricocheting around the pipes of the internet today with details of Microsoft's next desktop operating system: Windows 8. Or so you think! In fact, Microsoft are trying to push this as more than just for desktops this time around, as they try and expand the capabilities of their touch screen features to try and keep pace with a market saturated with glossy screens and thumb smudges.
