AMD Releases Catalyst 10.8 Driver Update

ATI released Catalyst 10.8. For Eyefinity users, the release is largely an incorporation of the Tri-Fire and Quad-Fire updates, and the AA fix for StarCraft II found in the 10.7a hotfix. There were additional performance updates and CrossFireX profile updates for a number of titles, including LOTRO and Left4Dead2.

Still no 5x1-Portrait support. We've seen it recently in the wild, and hopefully the 3x1-P CFX and QuadFire improvements are steps on the road to 5x1-P support.

AMD Releases Catalyst 10.7 Driver Update

The 10.7 release brought a several enhancements, with one major enhancement for Eyefinity users. Additionally, it brought new Linux support. AMD also released a 10.7a Hotfix.

CrossFireX for Portrait Configurations - Improves the CrossFireX implementation in Eyefinity by adding support for 3x1-Portrait configuraitons.

Eyefinity / HydraVision Enhancements - Maximizing a window across multiple displays now takes Bezel Compensation into account. Dialog boxes can now be forced to the "preferred" display, and they will not display behind bezels

ATI Talks Open-Source 3D

Shane Parfitt and Terry Makedon from ATI (two people actually in my email Roledex ^_^) talk about Open Source 3D from ATI. Leveraging HDMI 1.4a and DisplayPort 1.2, ATI expects to have Open Source 3D support out by Christmas.
