EA Gives Away Three C&C Titles

EA has the original Command & Conquer, Red Alert and Tiberian Sun (plus Firestorm) available as Freeware download. The original C&C and RA were reported as 16:10 anamorphic, while Tiberian Sun is pixel-based. Would be nice to get Detailed Reports for these. Also interested to see about Surround/Eyefinity support in Tiberian Sun.

Ergotech Triple Desk Stand Review

Like most things around the WSGF, this review took a while. Downside to that is missed internal deadlines and things dragging on. Upside is that I've been able to spend a good deal of time with the Triple Desk Stand from Ergotech. The fine folks at Ergotech got in touch with me in early December. I spent a fair amount of time talking with them about my setup, needs, and what I thought gamers wanted out of a multi-monitor stand. In the end, we came to the conclusion that the Heavy Duty Triple Desk Stand (Model 100-D16-B03) would be the best fit for my setup and environment.

BioShock 2 - BioShock FOV Problems Redux

Csokis provided some comparison shots of BioShock 2 being Vert-. Considering that we went through this exact same thing on the original BioShock (and the WSGF event made X-Play! on G4TV), the FOV issues are surprising. This thread on the 2K Forums picked up our original posting and users there go on to say that other issues fixed in patches to the original BioShock are missing as well.

Update on BioShock 2 FOV - Patch Underway (Revised)

"2K Elizabeth", (Community Manager for 2K Games) forwarded me this Formal Announcement of a Hor+ Patch. To quote the page, "We always meant to have our FOV expand horizontally, but a last minute bug fix for a related issue changed this back to a vertical FOV just before ship. We feel rather silly about this, and agree that horizontal expansion is much more awesome, and that you'll have it very soon."

James Cameron's Avatar: The Game

Avatar: The Game is a third-person shooter set a couple years before the movie on the same lush planet. As an RDA soldier, you'll first assist the colonial army but may eventually switch sides and "become" a tall tree-hugging Na'vi warrior. Mission objectives and "scanned" creatures will earn you experience points, and levelling up will upgrade the arsenal of weapons and techno/magical superpowers at your disposal.
Avatar supports both DX9 & DX10 and is compatible with a host of stereoscopic 3D display modes.
