Ramblings of a Moron: R.U.S.E. (Beta)

Disclaimer

"Ramblings of a Moron" is a review series done by WSGF member Cynagen. While reviews from other sites focus on extensive play and detailed postmortem analysis, "Ramblings of a Moron" is a first impression "stream of consciousness" review. The grammar isn't perfect, and the prose can sometimes be disjointed, but these are the first impressions of a seasoned WSGF Insider. For more information, and for more Ramblings, see the complete list of Cynagen's offerings.

Aliens vs. Predator

The long-awaited third FPS to pit Marines, Aliens and Predators against each other, and the second developed by Rebellion, the new AvP is a gamepad-friendly shooter for the cross-platform era. Jumping has been 'redefined', crouching is impossible but both Aliens and Preds have a vast array of gruesome, grand guignolesque fatalities and stealth kill moves to perform. It is also one of the first few games to boast DX11 effects and "official" Eyefinity support.

Rogue Warrior

Rogue Warrior is a tactical first person shooter video game. It was developed by Rebellion Developments and published by Bethesda Softworks. In Rogue Warrior, the United States has sent in Richard Marcinko, a veteran Navy SEAL, on a mission into North Korea to disrupt ballistic missile launchers. As players progress, Marcinko will encounter numerous enemies and allies as he is sent from locations such as Korea, Russia, and others to pursue terrorists with dangerous missile capabilities. The plot is not based on the autobiography by the game's protagonist, Richard Marcinko.

Assassin's Creed II

I stalk him. He never suspects. My steps quicken, a futile attempt to catch the pace of my pounding heart. Like a fat child chasing its fleeing deadbeat parent. I smell the dirt, the flavors, the stink of humans. It violates my nose and teases my focus. Of no concern. I cradle the bracer with my free hand. Soon. Soon, it will be. He stops, unawares. Ripe. Exposed. I gather my nerve and prepare to...Connection to server lost. Trying to reconnect and reload last checkpoint.

Command & Conquer: Generals

Command & Conquer: Generals is an RTS from EA Games, and represents the beginning of a new story arc in the Command & Conquer series rather than being a sequel to any previous game. It's set in the near future, in a world where the US and China are the two superpowers, and an irregular fanatic group known as the GLA has emerged. Each of the three forces has its own campaign, and their own gameplay style (US - air power and high tech stuff, China - powerful units and lots of them, GLA - stealth and speed).

ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB Benchmarks - Catalyst Driver Comparison

This is another article in our Benchmarking Series. I received my 5870 back in November, and worked through setting up my Eyefinity rig. I put the card through its paces in a set of benchmarks (some updated benchmarks in Win7) and a review of both the HD 5870 and Eyefinity.

CivNet

Civilization is a legendary strategy game by the legendary game designer Sid Meier. You must guide a small tribe to grow and become a great empire in competition with as many as six other tribes. You must make decision that affect exploration, war, diplomacy, city growth, and the discovery of new technologies, the results of which will ultimately define your empire and what it is capable of achieving.

CivNet is the final incarnation of the original game, enhancing the GUI, adding digital redbook audio, FMVs, and, of course, multiplayer via a number of network types.
