WSGF News - Ep 26: Games, Drives and More
After a long winter's nap, the dynamic duo is back.
Happy Boxing Day 2014 !!!
For our thirdyear running, I am gifting Steam wallet codes to the folks who work hard to keep the WSGF running day in and day out. Whether its kicking the servers when they hiccup, adding games to the database, or approving posts from new users, these are the people that help me keep the WSGF running.
I started doing this two years ago, back in 2012. That year I gave out three $100 Steam wallet codes to admins Delphium, CrackerJackMack and AussieTimmeh. Last year I gave out a mix of $100 and $50 codes to fifteen different folks - admins, editors, developers and key contributors. All in all, I gave out $1000 of Steam codes that year.
This year we have a couple fewer cards to give away, but each one is a $100 card. In total I'm giving out $1200 to a dozen folks who have helped to ensure that 2014 was a great year for the WSGF.

WSGF News Ep 25 - Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaames!
We take some time to talk about some games going around.
WSGF to Appear on Fundraising Stream
This weekend, gamers from all over the Internet will set out to play games for 24 hours for Extra Life, a fundraising event that raises donations for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. One group, Epic Default, reached out to us to borrow equipment for their stream. Along with loaning out our Oculus DK2 unit, WSGF will be loaning some Editors. Both Simon and Chris will be swinging by during their stream to hang and play some games. If you are interested in watching the stream, check out Epic Default's stream all day on Saturday, October 25th. If you would like to donate to this group's efforts to raise money for hospitals in the Children's Miracle Network, visit Epic Default's Donation Page.

Over the past few weeks were the been a number of new announcements that will impact displays and display technology going forward. First was that Dell's preview of a 5k monitor with 5120x2880 resolution. This is a "retina-ing" (Apple's term for doubling vertical and horizontal pixels) of a 2560x1440 monitor. The 27" display is a beast with 14.75M pixels, and 218ppi. This compares to 8.3M pixels and 157ppi on a 28" 4k UHD.
