City Building

Anno 2070

It is set in the year 2070. Global warming has melted the Arctic ice cap, which has raised the global sea level so high that what used to be mountains are all that remains of land.

The game has two factions: Ecos and Tycoons. Ecos are environmental and build sustainable cities but are inefficient and slow to expand. Tycoons are industrious and expand quickly but have problems with pollution and dwindling resources.

Cities in Motion

The goal of the game is to implement and improve a public transport system in 4 European cities - Amsterdam, Berlin, Helsinki and Vienna. This goal can be achieved by building lines for metro trains, trams, boats, buses and helicopters.

Anno 1404

Dawn of Discovery (US) = Anno 1404 (rest of the world)

The new Anno boasts improved graphics, a refined interface and features a "continuous play" (sandbox) mode besides the main campaign. There's also an online leaderboard and custom map sharing system - but there's no multiplayer of any kind.
