The DRM in Far Cry 2 was small potatoes compared to the game's various other, well, let's call them issues.
However, Far Cry 3 is supposed to be a closer continuation to the original, so when that eventually gets released it should be pretty fun.

Re: Steam Summer Sales
Kinda want TDU2, but not prepared to put up with 4 activations of a game, even for a fiver. Doesn't matter whether they're revokable; I've got to really want something to put up with that DRM.
I hear the game sucks anyway.

Re: DUKE NUKEM FOREVER ACTUALLY EXISTS.
I watched some Brit play the first few hours on YouTube. Based on his live first impressions I'm not gonna even test the game. Sounds like a terrible joke on the franchise to be honest.

Re: DUKE NUKEM FOREVER ACTUALLY EXISTS.
After trying it for a couple hours, I installed the old Duke 3D disc and played it for a night. Still fun.
I know what you mean. When I heard DNF was coming out in June I reinstalled DN3D and had a go yet again. Got hooked immediately and had to play through all the episodes.

Re: TDU2 ati 6950/70
There was actually some informative posts by a closed-beta participator detailing some of these issues and how it seems Atari forced Eden to release an unfinished game.
To anyone familiar with the TDU1 beta fiasco, that shouldn't come as a surprise.
Furthermore, looking at how Eden ...

It's horribly broken in many ways, 2K forums are loaded with complaints. People are waiting for a patch.

Re: Gaming Appreciation 101 - my current project
Out of those two, Civilization is probably the one to cover in this context. Age of Empires, while a great game, is hardly important to the history of gaming.
The games to cover are IMHO not necessarily just those to introduce a new concept, but those that really introduced one to a large ...

Re: Mafia II
Well, just watched the credits roll so I can chime in now.
Bought it off Steam for EUR 10.00 a week ago when it was on sale, 75% off. For that price, it was definitely worth it.
Overall, not a great game.

Interesting, I have the same drivers. Though I'm running on XP SP3 32bit.
Need to try the settings reset but first I'm gonna finish my current game... on 1280x800. :P

Re: Civilization 5
ok, thanks for testing. As I said it's completely broken for me. Won't display any 3D. Changing to 1280x800 fixes it but as you might expect looks awful. If it exhibited the same on your system it would be immediately noticeable without further investigation. I'm guessing there's a critical software ...

Can you do a favor and see if it still works? And also windowed mode at 2560x1600 if it lets you choose that?

Re: Civilization 5
Has anyone gotten this to run at more than 2000px horizontal?
Just got it for Christmas. Installed ok but won't render 3D at all at, say, 2560x1600. And apparently I'm not the only one.

Re: Best Gaming Engine
Nice thread. The source engine has a nice SDK and HL2 was amazing when it came out. The CryEngine was mindblowingly far ahead as far as graphics, and it came out in the same period. Whatever they used for Red Faction was interesting because of the (somewhat) freely destroyable surroundings ...

So, how is it? Should I buy? Heard it loses all value after you complete the storyline (just like Mafia 1), is this accurate? Don't really want to shell EUR 40-50 for a couple nights' thrill :?

Re: Anyone In or waiting for STO Closed Beta
Well, I'm a few hours into the open beta now and one thing's clear, STO is nothing like EVE, except for a few things.
