Hunting Simulator

Hunting Simulator offers players hours and hours of immersion in the open wild with single and multiplayer modes, a multitude of hunting areas, and hundreds of objectives to accomplish. Developed using the Unreal 4 Engine, the game presents some of the most well-known hunting regions such as the mountains of Colorado, the oak forests of France, and the snowy plains of Alaska. Each hunting area is populated by numerous different and realistic looking animals, each possessing an authentic set of behaviours.

Widescreen Solution & Issues:

Native support: Vert+

  • FOV slider: HFOV 60-100*, default 90. (*Can in fact go up to 120; see Ultra-Widescreen section).
    Oddly enough you need to bring the pause menu twice for a new FOV value to be applied.
  • Loading screens are Hor+ i.e cropped below 16:9.
Ultra/Super-Wide Specific Solution & Issues:

Ideal FOV starts at ~107. Fortunately, you can push maximum FOV from 100 to 120 through a simple edit.

If you change any in-game graphics setting, max FOV is reset to 100 so you'll have to quit the game and edit the file again.

  • Main menu backdrop & character selection screen remain Vert-.
  • Loading screens are Vert-.
  • All optics are Vert- so magnification of scope sights etc. is slightly increased.
  • Area map is Hor+ at the default scale but max zoom-out is actually Vert-.
Eyefinity / Surround Specific Solution & Issues:

Ideal HFOV is over 140 and requires a different approach:

Open the file:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Hunter\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Engine.ini

Add this paragraph:
[/Script/Engine.LocalPlayer]
AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV

Then set VFOV to 60 in-game or in the file.

  • Fullscreen Windowed mode is required: fullscreen resolution won't stick outside of the options menu.
  • Main menu backdrop & character selection screen are vastly Vert+ ("zoomed-out").
  • Optics are Vert+ so magnification is slightly lowered.
  • Area map is Hor+ at the default scale but max zoom-out is actually Vert-.
