Nimbus is a unique combination of racing & puzzling. The player controls a craft with no means of directly propelling itself and needs to use whatever is scattered around the levels to acquire thrust and reach the goal. Traverse a world map with several distinct islands in order to recover your lost love. Light on story, but heavy on gameplay Nimbus offers several hours of increasingly harder challenges.
I've never bought into the Direct2Drive ecosystem - all of my downloadable games come through Steam. So, I wasn't aware that last may IGN had sold the service to GameFly. I have been a member of Gamefly off an on for years, and I recently rejoined when they launched their unlimited PC download option (though I've yet to actually use it). The real news here is that in January, Gamefly will be folding the D2D service fully into Gamefly - accounts will be moved and the website will redirect you. Anno 2070 is best described as a City Builder / Economics Simulator / Real Time Strategy, the game has you building an maintaining a city while trying to manage your resources while sometimes trying to fend off hostile NPCs or players that want your resources for themselves. The game works relatively well on a multi-montor setups, game scales correctly, with the main issues being the HUD is bound to the edge of the screen. Once again if your monitors width is larger than 1920 pixels and you have lots of bandwidth, set the quality to original and play the video in full screen for a much higher quality.

AMD continues the trend of holiday releases with the launch of the Radeon HD 7970. Naturally, the new 7970 is slotted to replace and improve upon the Radeon HD 6970. The question is how much better does it perform, and what new features does it bring to the table. Earlier in the month I was invited to a Tech Day at the AMD Campus in Austin, TX. Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend. So, my knowledge on the technical details of the new architecture is a bit shallow. I will be meeting with folks at AMD in the new year to get a better understanding, and will follow up with a separate article then.

Kicking off a new sub-series of feature videos to supplement my current surround feature videos that I produce. The "Hack" series is focused on being more educational teaching how to use hacks and showing them in action to help newcomers of the community get on board with surround configurations.
