Hamilton's Great Adventure

Hamilton's Great Adventure is a top-down tile-based puzzle adventure. You play as Hamilton with his trusty bird offsider. You must guide them through the various levels to collect as many coins as possible. The game has a cool coop mode where one player controls Hamilton while the other controls the bird, working together to beat the game.

Eyefinity/Surround Analysis for Torchlight II

Runic was nice enough to give me a couple of beta keys for Torchlight II. I spent some time going through the game in widescreen and Eyefinity. Kayden was able to put some time into the game with an NVIDIA Surround rig. Overall, multi-monitor support is great, with several improvements over the original Torchlight. We did uncover one issue, which we are reporting to Runic. If you set the UI scaling to 100%, the health orbs are on the far left and right corners of the screen. This is a global bug, and it impacts single screen, AMD Eyefinity and NVIDIA Surround.

On a positive note, you can now place the automap to fill the left or right monitor. This is a great use of the extra screen real estate in Eyefinity or Surround.

Alan Wake DRM free on GOG.com

GOG.com continue to amaze me. They give games away for free (Fallout 2 being the most recent standout) they regularly have sales and are DRM free. I won't say they always manage to get games working, as while often they do, I've had a couple of games utterly refuse to work on newer OSes. But - Alan Wake (that PC exclusive that became XBox 360 exclusive that eventually made it to Steam) has just been released DRM free on GOG.com... and for the next seven days (I presume that means until the 15th of May) it's $14.99.

Gods vs Humans

Not So Fun Fact #1: Probably the only natively Hor+ game that should have been Vert-... for the sake of "towervision" on tallscreen displays. Ah well !
Not So Fun Fact #2: Produced by one of the shortest-lived publishers in the history of digital ditribution (RIP Zallag, 11.2009-04.2011).

Product Review: Blue Yeti Pro - Ultimate USB & XLR Multi-Capsule Microphone

Time for a new product review, this one is for everybody as I think we all use a microphone pretty much every day. Tired of having people tell you that your mic sucks? Want to one up your setup to something better? For me the ultimate transformation from "ok" to "great" recordings and voice chat was when I got the Blue Yeti. Since I was a big fan of that microphone I was really excited to see them offer a newer and better version called the Yeti Pro.

So this review is all about the new model but has plenty of information on the original Yeti as well. Check it out I am sure you can learn something.

On the back of winning our Game of the Year for 2011, Codemasters is releasing a new title called DiRT Showdown. They've sent us some preview code to check out, so here is my video review of how things are looking so far. I look at how the game works in multi-monitor, and how it compares to the previous DiRT title, DiRT3.

Remember to watch in fullscreen, regardless of if you are on a widescreen or multi-monitor setup!

AMD & GameFly Team Up for Discounts

AMD & GameFly made a joint announcement today about a new venture between the companies. Gamers who purchase an AMD APU or CPU will receive a 30 day free trial to the GameFly rental service, and receive a 20% discount on a new PC game from the GameFly PC store.

I'm personally a member of GameFly, and really like their service. Sounds like a great opportunity for more people to get a free chance to get it out.

Video Review of Rayman Origins in Eyefinity & Surround

Rayman Origins has native Hor+ support for Eyefinity and Surround, but the support isn't perfect and the view is constrained in some areas. Check out this review, using the first level of gameplay, to see the highs and lows of multi-monitor support.

The game is beautiful, and if only it had perfect support. Click the full article (or the source link) to view the video.
