The Ramblings of a Moron: Diablo III "Stay awhile and listen..."

Disclaimer

"Ramblings of a Moron" is a review series done by WSGF member Cynagen. While reviews from other sites focus on extensive play and detailed postmortem analysis, "Ramblings of a Moron" is a first impression "stream of consciousness" review. The grammar isn't perfect, and the prose can sometimes be disjointed, but these are the first impressions of a seasoned WSGF Insider. For more information, and for more Ramblings, see the complete list of Cynagen's offerings.

The Rambling

Cynagen on

Unmechanical

You're a tiny utility robot stranded in a strange underground place. Using only the rotor on your head and the tractor beam... underneath, it's time to explore, push buttons, haul stuff around and make your way through puzzles that involve physics, logic or memory. A demo is available in Steam and also as a DRM-free download, so there's absolutely no reason not to check this lovely little game out.

Scania Truck Driving Simulator

Hop in the cab and bring your nerves of steel, there's "precision trucking" to be done. Scania TDS is a nicely detailed driving sim featuring multiple game modes - from arena challenges to driving down narrow, treacherous roads to the more relaxing freeform delivery.

Enter the Matrix

Enter The Matrix casts the player as Niobe or Ghost, captain and first mate of the rebel ship Logos, respectively. Niobe is a master combatant, capable of beating up everyone in her way. She is an excellent pilot, both in the real world and in the Matrix. Ghost is very adept at firearms, and his marksmanship is a mastery. Both characters are very athletic, and throughout the game the player will have to walk, run, jump, strafe, peek, run on walls, climb ladders and pipes, and fight various enemies.

Symphony

Symphony is a vertical shooter type game which, like Audiosurf and Beat Hazard (among others) generates the levels based on your music. It ranges from easy to mind-blowingly difficult, with the higher difficulties becoming unlocked as you progress through the game and recover pages of the "Symphony of Souls"; created when a mysterious entity invaded and tried to take over by capturing the souls of musicians. This mysterious entity is absorbing and corrupting your music before your eyes.

Lone Survivor

Lone Survivor is a 2012 independent survival horror video game, developed by Jasper Byrne under Superflat Games.

Cave Story+

Cave Story platform-adventure video game released in 2004 for the PC. It was developed, designed, and programmed over five years by Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya in his free time. Cave Story features 2D platform mechanics and is intended as an homage to the classic games that the author played in his youth, such as Metroid, Blaster Master, and Castlevania.

Two Worlds II

Two Worlds II is a real-time role-playing game that takes place in an open fantasy world where players take the role of a single character with whom they can explore and undertake quests. From the beginning players can customize the appearance of the protagonist such as shape of face and body, and skin colour. As is common in role-playing games, the player’s character will level up by gaining experience points through completion of quests and defeating enemies.

Wizard101

Players take on the role of students of Wizardry to save the Spiral (which is the set of worlds this game takes place in), and battle a variety of creatures by casting spells using a turn-based combat system similar to collectible card. Players advance in the game by accepting quests to learn new spells, gain equipment, and collect gold. The game holds a rating of "Everyone 10+" from the Entertainment Software Ratings Board for crude humor and mild fantasy violence. Although designed for pre-teens, the game appeals to all ages.
