Sea Dogs is a pirate-themed RPG by Akella. Players can hire a crew and buy or capture ships, sign on as a privateer working for a European power, or become a pirate. It was succeeded by Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales, which continues the story with the children of Sea Dogs' main character.

Only 4:3/5:4 resolutions are available in-game; custom resolutions can be set by editing engine.ini in the game folder. Fonts and some other 2D elements maintain the correct aspect ratio but many elements are stretched to the full width. 3D elements have the correct aspect ratio.
- Edit engine.ini in the game folder.
- Change the WINDOW_WIDTH and WINDOW_HEIGHT values to the width and height of your resolution, e.g. for 1920x1080 you would set WINDOW_WIDTH 1920WINDOW_HEIGHT 1080
- Save your changes.
If the game shows a "DxInit: The operation is not supported" error message at launch after this change you have specified a resolution your monitor doesn't support. Repeat the above steps using a supported resolution.
