Economic

This is a type of simulation game that simulates aspects of economics. Many of them focus on running a business enterprise. The general focus in gameplay is on accumulating wealth and meeting customer needs. This is a sub-genre of the Simulation genre. These games are often called "tycoon" games, and in fact often have the name in their titles. There are also many city-building games, in which you must build and maintain a city and satisfy citizen's needs, while ensuring that the city's economy and infrastructures run smoothly.

SimCity 4

Developed by Maxis, Sim City 4 Deluxe continues the famous series of city simulations originally created by renowned game designer Will Wright. The deluxe version includes the expansion SimCity 4: Rush Hour. Players take over as mayor of a city which can be fictional or based upon a real-world counterpart. The player controls how the city grows using many methods that include building public facilities, zoning land, and manipulating budgets and taxes.

The Guild 2: Pirates of the European Seas

The Guild 2: Pirates of the European Seas is a standalone expansion to the original The Guild 2. The gameplay involves taking control of a lowly worker and bringing their family to the top of the kingdom. Characters manage their businesses while seeking to expand the political influence of their family and eliminate their rivals. Players can choose from a variety of occupations including fishing, baking, thieving, and of course piracy. Strategic marriage alliances can allow your family to expand into other businesses and strengthen your clan.

The Movies

The Movies is a sim game made by Lionhead Studios which allows you to be the owner of your own movie studio. You can direct, write, edit, and produce your own movies while managing your actors and lot.

Sid Meier's Railroads!

Sid Meier's Railroads! is a business simulation game wich marks the return of the watershed title in simulation/strategy gaming that launched the popular "tycoon" genre, inspiring a new generation of games. Using new 3D graphics, you can build and manage your own railroad empire!

Glory of the Roman Empire

Glory of the Roman Empire is a city-building game set during the height of the Roman Empire, developed by Haemimont Games. It features a three dimensional game engine and individual modeling of game character behaviors. In the game, the player assumes the roles of city planner, governor, and military leader. Successful players will need planning skills, economic savvy and—should those fail—military might.

1701 A.D.

1701 A.D. is a strategy game from Related Designs and Sunflowers. You play as a governer of an early 18th century colony, and must expand and develop it, and maintain a balanced economy.

Chris Sawyer's Locomotion

Chris Sawyer's Locomotion is a strategy game from Chris Sawyer and Atari, and is a spiritual successor to Transport Tycoon. You play as transport company entrepreneur and must build railroads, truck lines, bus lines, airlines, and freighters, and attempt to make your business successful. The game features 40 scenarios taking place in multiple nations and covering every period of the 20th century, a scenario editor, and a multiplayer mode.

OpenTTD

OpenTTD is a clone of the Microprose game "Transport Tycoon Deluxe", a popular game originally written by Chris Sawyer. It attempts to mimic the original game as closely as possible while extending it. It can be downloaded at www.openttd.org

Rollercoaster Tycoon 2

Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 is a strategy game from Chris Sawyer and Infogrames. It is the sequel to the hugely popular original RCT, and is not very different from it. As before, there are a large number of scenarios for you to attempt, all of which require you to build, maintain, and/or manage a theme park, with varying conditions and objectives.

City Life

City Life is a city building game made by Monte Cristo. The game plays much like sim city but with more of a focus on the residents needs.
