Duke Nukem Forever

Duke Nukem is a sci-fi FPS most known for a decade-long development cycle. The game offers "old school" FPS gameplay and Duke's trademark macho/rude humor. It is a sequel to Duke Nukem 3D from 1996.

Duke Nukem returns for the third time to kick ass and chew bubblegum (and he's all out of gum). You play as the Duke, and do battle with hordes of aliens, mutants, and other deadly foes who threaten earth. Your armory consists of a large variety of weapons, including FPS staples like pistols, shotguns, and RPGs, and some unique tools like the shrink ray, the freezethrower, and the jetpack.The EDuke32 engine is a port of the originally DOS-based game that allows for higher resolutions, including widescreen ones.

Wolfenstein 3D

Wolfenstein 3D is a seminal first-person shooter game first released in 1992, pitting the player, a captured American spy, against a horde of WWII-era Nazis ensconced within Castle Wolfenstein. It is widely regarded by critics and game journalists as having helped popularize the genre on the PC, and having established the basic run-and-gun archetype for subsequent FPS games.

Prey

Prey is a sci-fi themed FPS from Human Head Studios and 2K Games. You play as Tommy, a garage mechanic living in a Cherokee reservation in Oklahoma. You have been abducted by aliens, and must fight your way through their massive ship, using alien weapons as well as spiritual Cherokee powers.

Max Payne

The game features a gritty neo-noir style and uses graphic novel panels (with voice-overs) in place of cutscenes to narrate the game. Max Payne is heavily influenced by the Hong Kong action cinema genre, particularly the work of director John Woo.
