Although aimed towards online team-based multiplayer, the game features a story-driven singleplayer campaign (US side) and "challenges" focusing on the control of ships, planes and submarines respectively.

The German campaign must be unlocked by beating either the Soviet campaign or the Anglo-American Alliance (USA and UK) campaign.

The emphasis is heavily on action over realism, though tactical manuevers are important.
