Gaming with Black Bars (Pillarboxing)

What are we talking about? We're talking about playing a non-widescreen game, on a widescreen monitor, without it stretching. For example: Sid Meier's Pirates! does not support widescreen. It will support a resolution of 1600x1200. How do you play it on a 1920x1200, at a 1600x1200 resolution, without stretching? The same thing goes for Warcraft III, or any other game that doesn't support widescreen.

DICE Indicates Support for WS and TH/EF

In the BF Bad Company 2 Forums DICE developer repii indicated support for Widescreen and EyeFinity. He also discusses it on his personal dev blog. This is certainly good news, considering the track record of recent DICE titles. Please visit the forum thread to discuss, which also has the two links referenced above. We've been very vocal in our criticism of their lack of support. Let's be just as vocal in our appreciation of their support of Widescreen and EyeFinity.

Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues

Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues lets you wreck brick-havoc across the fourth movie's scenes, but it's also a completely new take on the previous trilogy. This title brings a lot of improvements and changes to the Lego series: the more open level branching, finally subtle use of next-gen FX and level editor all contribute to the renewing of the Lego/movie super-franchise, just in time for the upcoming Lego Harry Potter game. The new free-form gameplay and vast hub zones will have you begging for a minimap though.

Zombie Driver

Zombie Driver is a 3D top-down driving game. You'll have to dodge, maul or shoot through zombie hordes all around the city to reach trapped survivors and bring them back to safety. The game consists of a single 17-mission campaign, but you're free to drive anywhere and kill as many zombies as you can for additional money. The Ogre engine allied with software PhysX allow for nicely detailed dismemberfest and fence crashing.

Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings

Landmark sequel to Age of Empires. Rome has declined, and Western civilization has fallen into an era of social and cultural deterioration. You must guide an ancient medieval clan, and build it into an empire of kings, castles, and knights.

WSGF Forum Offline - Update: Back Online

The WSGF Forum will be offline as we attempt to upgrade to phpBB3. We apologize for any inconvenience. Update: We were able to successfully migrate the board and all the settings. If you find any issues, please send a PM to Ibrin or one of the Mods.

Wolfenstein

Wolfenstein is yet another "fantasy WW2" shooter pitting you against mad science, hubris-ridden nazis. You won't be forced to play through a series of levels back-to-back, as the streets of the town-hub are free to explore before you take on any unlocked mission or replay completed ones. Besides guns and explosives you will rely on the occult powers of The Veil, a distorted reality in which you can slow down time, block bullets and discover secret passages.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

The Force Unleashed is a third-person action game in which the player's character's weapons are the Force and a lightsaber. Developers treated the main character's lightsaber like another Force power, and wanted to ensure "something visceral and cool" happened with each button-push. The game has a combo system for stringing lightsaber attacks and for combining lightsaber attacks with Force powers. Experience points earned by killing enemies and finding artifacts can be used to increase Starkiller's powers and traits.
