AMD Radeon Refresh - HD 7970 GHz Edition (Review)

With all of the expected single-GPU SKUs in the Southern Island product stack launched, you might think that this article would herald the arrival of the "big daddy" dual-GPU Radeon HD 7990. Well, you'd be wrong. And probably disappointed, considering that AMD all but showed off the Radeon HD 7990 at AMD Fusion Developer Summit.

What we are talking about is an update to the flagship Radeon HD 7970, with the HD 7970 GHz Edition. The "GHz Edition" monicker was first used with the mainstream Radeon HD 7770, being the first card to break 1,000 MHz barrier for the core clock. The original Radeon HD 7970 launched with a 925MHz clock, and a 250W max power profile. The GHz Edition of HD 7970 is specced at a base core clock speed of exactly 1GHZ, and a "Boost Clock" of 1.05GHz, while maintaining the original 250W power draw. In all of my testing, the Boost was always boosting, and we were running at 1GHz+

The original Radeon HD 7970 launched at an MSRP of $549 (considered by many to be high), but was reduced to $479 (after NVIDIA brought pressure to bear with the GTX 680). The Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition will sell alongside the original offering, at a price of $499. The GHz carries a price premium of 4.2%. Will we get that much additional performance out of a 13.5% increase in the core clocks?

Ys: Origin Review

I just want to preface this by saying that I have never done any sort of meaningful, efforted review before. So don’t be surprised if it’s awful.

Metrocon 2012 Anime Convention - Arcade Game Room Tour

Exclusively for the WSGF community a look at the gaming room for Florida Metrocon.
I have a mission to one day get a WSGF booth in this room to help spread the word about multi-monitor pc gaming and show the masses how awesome it is.

This year it didn't happen but I would still like to cover the event and give you a tour of the gaming room.
Lots of hardcore gamers come to the event just to go to this room and play games through the weekend, they host tournaments and imported games and its a good way to meet fellow gamers.

Max Payne 3

Max Payne 3, the third title in the Max Payne franchise, is a third-person shooter in which the player assumes the role of its titular character, Max Payne. The game features the over-the-shoulder zoom aiming and cover mechanics. However, these just serve as garnish to the game's classic run-and-gun shooting. Max Payne 3 also marks the return of bullet-time in action sequences, which the franchise is notable for. In bullet-time it is possible to see every bullet make a hole in your foes.

We'll be wearing WSGF t-shirts to make us easily identifiable and we'll probably also use twitter or post on the site to let you know where we are if you wanna come meet up with us.

With regards to the event itself, tickets are still available for both days from their website which is linked below, at the minute they are announcing new things at the event almost daily, today they added playable versions of Far Cry 3, ShootMania & GhostRecOnline to their list which already includes the likes of Borderlands 2 and XCOM Enemy Unknown. Review: Corsair Vengeance M90 Mouse & K90 Keyboard

I'd been in the market for a new keyboard for a while. I had grown increasingly frustrated with my Logitech K340 wireless keyboard. While the matching Performance MX mouse was great, and I love the new Unifying Nano Receiver, I kept having issues where the keyboard didn't feel responsive. There were too many instances of mashing the health potion key in Torchlight, but no health being restored. Same thing with trying to switch weapons or cast signs in The Witcher.

Alien Breed 2: Assault

Alien Breed 2: Assault, like Evolution, is an isometric shooter set on board a futuristic spacecraft. In each level, the main character Conrad is given a series of tasks such as collecting key cards, restoring power, or escorting innocents, which he must complete before finding that level's exit. Standing in his way are a variety of aliens who will attack him, usually en masse. He can also suffer damage from explosions, fires, electrical disturbances, and enemy turrets. Conrad can run and shoot in all directions, and can collect a number of different weapons and items to aid him.
