QuakeCon 2012 Recap

Back from QuakeCon! What a great first time. Learned some things for next year and have some things I want to do.

First off, once again, I need to thank the Plantronics GameCom guys for the seats. They gifted Zencyde and I some cool swag, one thing being the Plantronics GameCom 780s, which I will hopefully get around to reviewing soon. Hint: I love them.

Next, a good ol' fashioned howdy to all the people we met at QuakeCon. So, to all of the new visitors, lurkers, old members, and such... "Howdy!"

We had lots of cool things to see and lots of cool people to meet. We actually got to meet and talk with a former member, Drakino. He made one of the first fixers for the WSGF, the Game Resolution Switcher (GRS). Now, he works for Vigil Games making the things we love to play. We also met some lurkers of the forum. Though you don't talk, we still love you. We were able to talk to a lot of people that were interested in multi-monitor gaming. Hopefully, they will stick around, too, and learn as much as they can.

We also got to check out some cool things out now and will be out in the future.

Guns of Icarus Online

Guns of Icarus Online is an online multi-player FPS. The game is set in a steampunk world where players take on one of three roles on a dirigible (airship). The roles are gunner, mechanic and captain. Players fire guns on the dirigible, attempting to shoot down their opponent's ships. Matches are in teams of 3-4 ships per side (red vs. blue). Players mount the large guns and pilot them from a first person perspective. They can also repair damaged guns and ship components.

Drake of the 99 Dragons

A 3rd person shooter starring Drake, an undead assassin who is on a quest to avenge his murdered clan (the 99 Dragons)

QuakeCon 2012

Howdy from QuakeCon 2012, down in Dallas, TX! Zencyde and I are out here hitting up the LAN. We are checking out some of the booths, and will hopefully get some video of things. I am rocking the WSGF Edition Monitor Stand (borrowing, thanks to Skip!), if anyone at the BYOC wants to check it out. Sadly, I only have one monitor on it, as I needed to get special permission to run a multi-monitor rig before hand (the QC trip was kind of last minute and I did not realize/think that I would need permission...BYOC Noob right here).

MDK2 HD

MDK2 is a video game and sequel to the third-person shooter, MDK. Like the original, MDK2 features three protagonists: Kurt Hectic, an ordinary janitor and reluctant hero, Max, a mechanical six-legged dog, and Doctor Fluke Hawkins, Max's creator and all-round eccentric scientist. Unlike in the first game, the player is put in control of all three characters in turns, with each delivering significantly different gameplay and puzzle experiences (Kurt - sniping, Max - "run and gun", Dr. Hawkins - strategy).

BIT.TRIP RUNNER

Bit.Trip Runner, marketed as BIT.TRIP RUNNER, is an arcade-style rhythm game developed by Gaijin Games and published by Aksys Games. It is the fourth game to be released in the Bit.Trip series of games, serving as the successor to Bit.Trip Beat, Bit.Trip Core and Bit.Trip Void, and as the predecessor to Bit.Trip Fate and Bit.Trip Flux.

Bit.Trip Runner is a 2D platformer in which the player takes control of Commander Video, the main protagonist of the Bit.Trip series who had appeared only during cut-scenes in the previous titles.

VVVVVV

VVVVVV (pronounced as "The Letter V Six Times" or "V's") is a 2D puzzle platform video game designed by Terry Cavanagh and scored by Magnus PÄlsson. The game was built in Adobe Flash and released on January 11, 2010, for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X.

Trapped Dead

Trapped Dead is a tactical real time strategy game. Players control their characters in a 3rd person isometric view through a mature Zombie survival scenario inspired by the successful Horror movies of the early 80s.

Eufloria

Eufloria (formerly known as Dyson) is a real-time strategy video game developed by indie developers Alex May, Rudolf Kremers and Brian Grainger. It was named after the Dyson tree hypothesis by Freeman Dyson that a tree-like plant could grow on a comet.

Machinarium

Machinarium is a puzzle point-and-click adventure game developed by Amanita Design.

The goal of Machinarium is to solve a series of puzzles and brain teasers. The puzzles are linked together by an overworld consisting of a traditional "point and click" adventure story. The overworld's most radical departure is that only objects within the player character's reach can be clicked on.
