Max Payne 3 Review

The review copy of Max Payne 3 was provided by NVIDIA. This allowed me to do the Detail Report on the display support, and write this article. Thanks guys.vvI completed the basic storyline set of chapters in about 16 hours, playing on easy. I got 10/46 Steam Achievements, and put together four golden guns (with help from the IGN Guide).

Truth be told I’m not a big fan of shooters, first or third person. When titles such as Doom and Quake first gained popularity, I was in college and playing RPGs and the first RTS games like Dune II. I wasn’t into the “run and gun” idea, and didn’t see the fun in running around just shooting stuff.

E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy

E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy is an indie action/role-playing first-person shooter video game created by the 12-person French development team Streum On Studio, and built using Valve Corporation's Source engine. It is a cyberpunk themed game based on the role-playing board game "A.V.A." developed by Streum On Studio in 1998.

Everything about this game is strange. Even the HUD in multimon is strange, all on the left hand screen. If you like strange, this is a good start.

Botanicula

Botanicula is a point-and-click adventure game developed by Amanita Design. I'm not even convinced it's a game. It's definitely point and click, and it might be an adventure, but game I am not convinced about. You click on random things until something happens, and then you ask 'was that actually what I wanted to happen?' before realizing that no, you still don't know what the point of all this even is.

On a bright note, wikipedia says that Botanicula is helping the World Land Trust to protect hundreds of acres of rainforest.

Indie Bundle 1

This is the first entry in my series of reviews for the Steam Indie Bundles. Each review is short and subjective, and is geared to give you a quick look at the game. Indie Bundle 1 includes: Anomaly Warzone Earth, Cave Story+, EDGE, Lone Survivor, The Baconing.

Borderlands 2 Multi-Monitor Support - Show Your Support

I thought it would be a good idea to pull together and show interested in multi-monitor support for this title. The first game was very popular but fell flat on its face when it came to support and the developer never really stepped in to help.
This time around they have shown some interest with things like "FOV" slider and "PC Specific UI" but nobody has stepped up to say "we are going to support this".

Time to get your voice heard, and let them see the number of people that want this by going to the gearbox forums and posting your piece on this forum thread:

Every voice counts, thanks everybody!

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 Review

It has been a while since we've had an NVIDIA card in-house for testing. Our last set of cards was a few generations back, with the GTX 275 and GTX 295 (a card I really liked). Since then we've made due with benchmarking and reviewing products solely from the AMD camp. While we've been glad to bring you the information we could, we were limited to just comparing cards within the current AMD product stack, or comparing comprable cards between generations.

Thanks to some contact made at the Rezzed Game Show in the UK, and some serious leg work by Delphium, we were able to get our hands on a current NVIDIA card - the GTX 670. I'm really glad to have an NVIDIA card back in-house, and I'm looking forward to doing a real comparison between the red and green camps.

The 600-series is really the perfect time to do an apples-to-apples (red apple vs. green apple, as it were) comparison between the two competitors. The NVIDIA 500-series brought multi-monitor gaming to NVIDIA hardware, but it required an SLI configuration. This was both problematic from a cost and implementation standpoint (some games just don't like a multi-GPU configuration).

While we could have done a solid set of single screen comparisons, there really just wasn't any way for us to do an effective multi-monitor analysis. The 600-series now gives us NVIDIA Surround on a single card, and opens things up for a proper WSGF shoot-out.
