WSGF Edition Stands - In Stock, In House

I have decided to begin stocking the WSGF Edition & HD Triple XL Stands personally, and shipping them directly to users. I worked out a deal with Ergotech so that I could take stock of the stands, and handle order processing myself. This allows me to ship same day (schedule permitting), and manage stocking levels better. This will provide you with better faster shipping, better service, and hopefully keep us from stocking out.

I have ordered 50 WSGF stands from Ergotech; 25 of them arrived last week, with another 25 arriving after the first of the year. I also have a stock of ICE Cubes, Short Poles and VESA Plates that I will be keeping here as well. I will be "downgrading" the WSGF Edition stands to make HD Triple XLs, for anyone who wants one of those. I will remove the tall pole, two pivots and the mini bar; replacing them with the short pole. I will then take the tale pole, mini bar and pivot, and create a 1+3 upgrade kit that I can then ship direct as well.

It's a pretty big investment to order 50 stands, but it's the best thing to do for me, you the customer, and the future of the product. So, if you've been waiting to order a stand - now is the time.

Take the WSGF Site Survey

As part of our ongoing efforts to help better serve out community, and make the WSGF the bestest it can be, we've set up a site survey via SurveyMonkey. Your input will help us ensure that the site is being designed and shaped to meet your needs.

It Takes a Great Team

Many of today's popular games are about a co-operative experience. Shooters (both third-person and first-person) require at least a moderate amount of teamwork from their players, if those players expect to be successful. Squad-based shooters and tactical shooters require even more coordination and planning from players. Success in these games isn't the work of one person, it is the work of many moving parts reacting to situations as they unfold. Each person brings their own skillset, and each person is required to react dynamically as new needs arise.

MMOs such as World of Warcraft have expended this idea as well. The whole idea of a "raid group" is to design a much larger cooperative team, from a much larger pool of possible players and characters. The nature of an MMO means that your players are more variable in nature, and the characters (with all of the choices for race, class, skills, spells, armor, weapons, items, etc.) are infinitely more variable. But, even with the greater variances, many of these groups run like clockwork as they run through the end-game content over and over.

It may go without saying (and it often does), but it needs to be said - running a successful gaming website requires the same kind of teamwork. And I am lucky to have a great team. Our volunteer staff of Editors/Mods do a great job in the day-to-day running of the site, but I want to take a moment to really thank the Admin Team that works behind the scenes.

Migration Complete!

We Are Back!

So after just 4 days of downtime (friday evening to tuesday lunch time), we have managed to complete the major migrations and updates.

We are now rocking back on the phpbb forums which has proven to give us much better response and performance across the entire site, we hope you enjoy these improvements!

While the major migrations have been complete, there is a couple of smaller bugs that we are working on to resolve. If you do happen to spot a bug, please be sure to let us know in the following thread..

Need for Speed: Most Wanted (Triple Monitors / Eyefinity / Surround) [~4K]

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is a racing game from Criterion, the game is a sort of hybrid between Burnout Paradise and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. It has pretty good multi-monitor support, I didn't need to mess about with the resolution, renders horizontal plus by default, the HUD is by default located to fit to a 16:9 aspect ratio, however there is an option to change the HUD scale, and this can be used to move it to 16:10 or 4:3. The video itself is part analysis, part walkthough and part waffle, feel free to like or dislike my video and comment are always welcome too.

While this video can be watched on any screen it has been encoded to look best on a multi-monitor system, so if your running such a system, then select original quality from the drop down box and watch in fullscreen.

Monster Hunters Tri (Wii) (Triple Monitors / Eyefinity / Surround) [~4K]

Monster Hunters Tri is an action game that sees you taking the roll of a monster hunter who's main purpose it to hunt and kill or trap the biggest and baddest monsters around. The game is actually a Wii game, a 2 year old one at that, and to get it running on a multi-monitor system I've been using the dolphin emulator as well as a few other tools that let me create an image from the original game on my Wii. The video itself is part analysis, part walkthough and part waffle, and I largely made it just to see if I could get it working, in my opinion Monster Hunters Tri was/is one of the best games out for the Wii. Feel free to like or dislike my video and comment are always welcome too.

WSGF Maintenance/Migration - Site Downtime & User Survey

We'll be right back!

As part of our never-ending efforts to improve your experience here on the WSGF, we will be performing a major migration and update to the site. Two years ago we moved from a variety of web platforms to a single Drupal environment. We expected that there would be issues after the migration, but we never anticipated the impacts to the site's speed and usability. And, we never anticipated that we wouldn't be able to fix any issues we were faced with. But, that is where we are at.

Steam Indie Bundle Review Series

Over the Steam sales, bundles packed with indie games become available, creatively named Indie Bundles. They are usually priced around $10USD and contain 5 games each. Over the next few weeks, I am going to review them for you, hopefully in time for the Christmas sales. We've noticed that sometimes Steam will tweak the Indie Bundles depending on how they sell, so these are from the summer break sales in 2012.

These reviews are totally subjective, different things will definitely appeal to different people. Take my reviews with a grain of salt. But as we all know, every now and them some gems come out to play and they turn into one of the best value games you have ever bought. They can often field new game concepts that the big developers haven't considered. We'll get to see this as we have a look at the good, the bad, and the plain bizarre games that are loaded into these Indie Bundles.

Indie Bundle 11

This is the eleventh entry in my series of reviews for the Steam Indie Bundles. Each review is short and subjective, and is geared to give you a quick look at the game. Indie Bundle 11 includes: Hydrophobia: Prophecy, ORION: Dino Beatdown, Star Ruler, Waveform, and World of Goo.

Dishonored

The game is played from a first-person perspective and allows the player to tackle a series of assassination missions in a variety of ways, with an emphasis on player choice. Missions can be tackled by stealth, combat or a combination of both. Exploring levels opens new paths and alternatives for accomplishing mission goals, and it is possible to complete all missions and eliminate all of Attano's targets in a non-lethal manner. The story and missions are modified based on violent actions, or lack thereof, committed by the player.
