Thanks, WSGF !

Hi everyone,

I'm Julien Barnoin, lead programmer of Papo & Yo from Minority.

I've been porting our PS3 game to the PC in the recent months, and I just wanted to say this site has been a great resource in researching how to get things right so everyone can enjoy our game. So, thanks !

Terraria

The game is a 2D adventure game. It features exploration, crafting, construction, and combat with a variety of creatures in a randomly generated world.

Chaser

Chaser was released in 2003 by Cauldron, distributed by JoWood. In 2004, it was released in Australia, distributed by Auran.

Defiance (Triple Monitors / Eyefinity / Surround) [~4K]

Defiance is a third person shooter MMO that is running a parallel story line with a TV show of the same name, the TV show and game take part in different parts of the world but are happening at the same time and according to the developers of both there will be some crossover / overlap between the two. The game itself has OK multi-monitor support, resolutions are handled correctly, all 3D is rendered horizontal plus however the UI is spanned across the board, which make the UI very clunky, fortunately the UI is useful but not required. It's a really shame because the game is made by Trion, who also made Rift, which had one of, if not the best UI customization system I've ever seen in a game.

The video itself is part analysis, part walkthough and part waffle, feel free to like or dislike my video and comment are always welcome too.

While this video can be watched on any screen it has been encoded to look best on a multi-monitor system, so if your running such a system, then select original quality from the drop down box and watch in fullscreen.

Contribute to the WSGF

I recently did an article on how you can add a game to the WSGF database. Beyond this, there area also additional areas where you can contribute. Two other areas are both easy and productive - the WSGF monitor database, and our screenshot/wallpaper galleries.

The following two YouTube videos outline the easiest methods by which you can contribute to the WSGF.

SimCity 5 (2013)

SimCity 5 (2013) is the latest installment by Maxis in the SimCity series.

The game focuses on smaller building plots than previous games while increasing interaction with neighboring cities. The game saves are purely cloud based, and the game requires a constant internet connection. The game is described as a city-simulation MMO, although I am not sure you could consider a maximum of 16 players an MMO. The game can be played as a single-player but this still requires an internet connection and all saves are still cloud-based.

Warframe

Warframe is a free to play sci-fi third-person shooter with randomly generated maps and mission objectives. Player characters (the Tenno) gain experience points (called "Affinity" in this game) and their Warframes (highly-advanced techno-organic battlesuits) and weapons can be crafted and upgraded with items gained through random drops or mission rewards. They may also take part in either 1v1 duels in their clan's Dojo (should the clan construct one), or 2v2 matches in tiered Conclaves scattered throughout the solar system.

Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil 6, known as Biohazard 6 (バイオハザード6 Baiohazādo Shikkusu?) in Japan, is an action-adventure third-person shooter video game in the Resident Evil series, developed and published by Capcom. Capcom defines the game's genre as "dramatic horror", however there is disagreement among reviewers whether this installment belongs in survival horror genre. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 2, 2012. The Microsoft Windows version was released on March 22, 2013.

Tutorials on Adding a Game to the WSGF Database

Did you know that all of our content here is community generated and user editable? While it's true most of the content has been generated by a core group of folks, anyone who is a registered member (with a few posts under your belt) can add or edit. We'd really like to see more content generated by a larger audience, and we're doing what we can do help make that happen.

We've overhauled our games database form, making it easier to follow and use. I've also just put together this video series showing how to do a complete entry. The four-parts series runs a total of 45 minutes, though it doesn't take near as long to actually add a game to the database. I spent a lot of time going over how to gather information and prep, and also providing context and background for our grading.

Check out the YouTube playlist embedded below, and add/update games in your library to the WSGF. Gamers everywhere will thank you.
