Project64

Project64 is a proprietary Nintendo 64 emulator for Windows. It employs a plug-in system that allows third-party software developers to create their own implementation of a specified component. Project64 allows the user to play Nintendo 64 games on a computer by reading ROM images, either dumped from the read-only memory of a Nintendo 64 cartridge or created directly on the computer as homebrew

Solutions & Issues
Widescreen Solution & Issues:

The Jabo's Direct3D8 plugins from 1.6 and up supports Hor+ widescreen. Other plugins do not have this feature nor do other versions of this plugin.

  1. Run Project64.
  2. Go to Options, Settings, Plugins and ensure the video plugin is set to Jabo's Direct3D8 1.6. Click OK to apply your changes.
  3. Go to Options, Configure Graphics Plugin.
  4. Set your resolution and other video settings.
  5. Uncheck Hide Advanced Settings and click Apply.
  6. Go to the Advanced tab that appeared. If you're using Jabo's Direct3D8 1.7.0.57-ver5, Go to the Rom settings tab.
  7. If you're using 1.6, Check Adjust game aspect ratio to match yours. If you're using 1.7.0.57, Check Override aspect while the rom is running.
  8. Click OK to save your changes.

Widescreen behaviour depends on the game; see below for testing details.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tested on Public Release - Project64 1.6
Games played at 4080x768 unless otherwise stated.

*Please note this list is only to tell you how well widescreen works, not the emulation.*

*Many Games have issues with rending 3D objects on areas where that are no background. 3D elements will leave artifacts in these areas.
----Fix: Well if the whole scene isn't rendered you can simply dial-down the the aspect ratio, the wider the view, the more object that have to be rendered, lessen the viewport and it will be able to support a lower amount of objects on screen.
