Widescreen Solution & Issues:
The game supports wide resolutions at least up to 1440*900 as this is the max resolution of my monitor. i was able to choose 1280*720 also, so I guess higher wide resolutions are supported too.
The game has a zoom in/out option with the mouse wheel, so basically, the field of view can be whatever you want it to be ...
