Introducing the WSGF Podcast

I'm VERY pleased to share with everyone, the brand new WSGF Podcast. This is something that I've wanted to do for a long time, but have never had the time to devote to it. Luckily two local Houston-area members of the WSGF, Simon "TheDestroyer" and Chris "peanut" have taking up idea, and will produce a regular podcast that covers WSGF news, gaming in general, and a look at their favorite rigs from reddit/r/battlestations.

Dell U2913WM 21:9 - Media & Consoles

This is a video I've been wanting to to for a while, and it took me much longer to get finished than what I anticipated. But, it's finally here. In this video we take a look at consuming movies and media on the ultra-wide 21:9 panel (via Mac and PC). We also take a look at how "alternative" gaming and media sources (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, Apple TV an U-Verse) work with the ultra-wide panel.

WSGF on TPG Cast Epside 36

I had the great repeat fortune of sitting down the guys from TruePC Gaming to talk again about the WSGF. In this chat we dig into how the WSGF community came up with or terminology (Hor+, Vert-, etc.), our grading system, and how both have evolved over time. I also go into the details of what it takes for a game to get a Gold or Silver medal.

Multi-Monitor Handling in Apple OS 10.9 Mavericks

While we are decidedly a PC gaming website, many users (myself included) use Macs on a regular basis. At this years WWDC, Apple showed off improved support for multi-monitor systems in the upcoming release of OS X 10.9 (Mavericks). A developer (with a six monitor rig) has put the beta OS though its paces, and offers up some pros and cons in the updated support.

Our First 21:9 Ultra-Widescreen Gaming Reel

I received my Dell U2913WM just before Thanksgiving, and spent some time running a handful of games on it to see how they fared. Used the NVIDIA GTX670 for testing, and looking at how each game performed at 2560x1080. We looked at gameplay, menus, HUD and cut-scenes. See the full article for the list of games, and their location in the video.

Video Review of Rayman Origins in Eyefinity & Surround

Rayman Origins has native Hor+ support for Eyefinity and Surround, but the support isn't perfect and the view is constrained in some areas. Check out this review, using the first level of gameplay, to see the highs and lows of multi-monitor support.

The game is beautiful, and if only it had perfect support. Click the full article (or the source link) to view the video.

Renegade Ops (Triple Monitors / Eyefinity / Surround) [~4K] Video

Renegade Ops is a action shooter that has you taking control of 1 of 5 vehicles (6 if you include the helicopter) and using them to shoot your way though the army of a mad man calling himself Inferno. The game works well on a multi-montor setups, scaling correctly, but as is common the HUD is fixed to the edges of the screen, also the score popups appear to be stretched. Once again if your monitors width is larger than 1920 pixels and you have lots of bandwidth, set the quality to original and play the video in full screen for a much higher quality.
