AMD Releases Catalyst 11.5 Driver Update

The Catalyst 11.5 release offers mostly bug fixes, and some performance improvements through the Catalyst Application Profiles. Details are as follows:

Hydravision Enhancements - HydraGrid is now aware of bezels under Eyefinity Bezel Compensation. There is also a new "Automatic Grid" that aligns to the Eyefinity display layout.

Bug Fixes - PowerDVD, Avivo, Windows Media Player, and H.264 Transcoding

CrossFireX Performance Improvements - Portal 2, Red Faction: Armageddon, The Next Big Thing, Regnum Online, Company of Heroes

AMD Releases Catalyst 11.4 Driver Update

This release of the Catalyst driver set brings a number of driver and performance enhancements for Eyefinity users:

Catalyst Control Center - New task-based Display Management controls which simplifies the configuration of displays and display settings.

Eyefinity Setup - New improved process for setting up an Eyefinity group.

Catalyst Update Notification - New CCC feature that notifies the user of available updates to to the driver suite.

AMD Releases Catalyst 11.2 Driver Update

This release of the Catalyst driver suite adds a number of new features. The major improvement is the addition of Morphological Anti-Aliasing support for the ATI Radeon 5000 series. Previously this feature has only been available for the AMD Radeon 6000 series.

AMD Releases Catalyst 11.1 Driver Update

The 11.1 version of the doesn't offer any major improvements for Eyefinity users. It does add support for the Fusion APU to the Catalyst suite. Additionally, it offers performance improvements for:

F1 2010 - At least 10%

Left4Dead 2 - Between 8% - 17%

First Radeon 6990 Sighting: 4xMini-DP + 1xDL-DVI

Engadget posted an article with the first sighting of the Radeon HD 6990. The info and images come courtesy of 4Gamer.net. The card does appear to support 5x1 output with four Mini-DP and one DL-DVI. I wish the card had 6xMini-DP, as I have my Eyefinity6 card running Mini-DP to my 5x1-P, and Mini-DP > HDMI to my HDTV.

Dual BIOS + PowerTune = HD 6950 >> HD 6970 Upgrade

An article over at Tech Powerup outlined how to flash a Radeon HD 6950 and unlock additional SIMD engines to make it function like a Radeon HD 6970. The Dual BIOS feature of the 6900 series makes the procedure safe, and the PowerTune feature helps keep the power threshold under 225W. Hit this forum thread to discuss.

AMD Releases Catalyst 10.12 Driver Update

The 10.12 version of the Catlyst Driver suite brings a number of improvements. The most noticeable is an overhauled (and much improved, IMHO) interface. The big Eyefinity update is the inclusion of support of 5x1-Portrait support.
