Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the third game in the Deus Ex first-person role-playing video game series, and a prequel to the original game. The game takes place during the year 2027, 25 years before Deus Ex. Nanotechnological augmentations have yet to be developed and biomechanical augmentations are the current state of the art.
The main protagonist, Adam Jensen, is a private security officer with Sarif Industries, a leading company that specializes in human augmentations. After he witnesses a chilling attack on his company which leaves him horrifically injured and forced to undergo augmentation to survive, "the conspiracy begins."
The player will visit five cities over the course of the game, including Detroit, Shanghai and Montreal. In addition, the protagonist will have his own apartment where he may store his secrets and collected information. The events in the game will lead to the formation of UNATCO from the original game.

Running the default FOV of 75, Deus EX HR is Hor+ but also slightly Vert- at widescreen resolutions, when comparing to the 4:3 aspect ratio.
You can change the FOV in the game menu (Gameplay >> Field of View).
To keep the vertical component of the FOV roughtly the same, making the game as Hor+ only as possible (and not Hor+ / Vert+, or Hor+ / Vert-), considering the in-game settings and taking the 4:3 FOV as start, you should increase the widescreen FOV by 5 degrees if you're playing at 16:10(1) and by 10 degrees for other wider aspect ratios (16:9(2), 48:10(3) and 48:9(4)).
4:3 FOV 75 (default)
16:10 - FOV 80
16:9 / 48:10 / 48:9 - FOV 85
4:3 FOV 80
16:10 - FOV 85
16:9 / 48:10 / 48:9 - FOV 90
4:3 FOV 85
16:10 - FOV 90
16:9 / 48:10 / 48:9 - FOV 95
4:3 FOV 90
16:10 - FOV 95
16:9 / 48:10 / 48:9 - FOV 100
Please check the "Additional in-game shots" below for a comparison between Aspect Ratio x FOV in this game.
(1) 1024x640, 1280x800, 1440x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1200, 2560x1600
(2) 1280x720, 1360x768, 1366x768, 1600x900, 1920x1080, 2560x1440
(3) 4320x900, 5040x1050, 5760x1200
(4) 4800x900, 5760x1080
Aspect ratio is skewed so must be set manually in the registry (thanks to adventhorizon for the fix).
Set your other video settings in the launcher or in-game, then exit and go to the following location:
Original: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Eidos\Deus Ex: HR\Graphics
Director's Cut: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Eidos\Deus Ex: HRDC\Graphics
Edit AspectRatio and choose Decimal format. Enter one of the following values:
23703 for 2560x1080
23888 for 3440x1440
This custom aspect ratio will be reset if some video settings are changed. Repeat as needed.
Cutscenes, conversations and menus are pillarboxed 16:9.
Eyefinity has a centered HUD while Nvidia Surround has a spanned HUD due to AMD-specific APIs (source).
The Director's Cut version may use an incorrect aspect ratio and require a manual override (see the Steam discussion for details).
Cutscenes, conversations and menus are pillarboxed 16:9.
The FOV setting is unavailable in fullscreen mode when a multi-monitor resolution is detected (the default 75 FOV will be used). FOV is available in windowed mode (see steps below), but note that this will disable HUD correction on AMD Eyefinity setups (the HUD will be spanned across the output).
For multi-monitor FOV:
- Use the multi-monitor resolution as the desktop resolution.
- Switch the game to windowed mode (either from the launcher or during gameplay).
- Maximise the window.
- Switch to borderless mode with Alt+Enter (if the Windows taskbar is still visible use Borderless Gaming instead).
- The game will now be spread across the multi-monitor resolution with the FOV setting unlocked. If the aspect ratio is incorrect apply a different aspect ratio in-game, then apply the Auto aspect ratio again.
