Resident Evil 5 Eyefinity?

Post by Nikolai Nielsen »

Hello.

Is there any way to run Resident Evil 5 on 3 screens? (5760x1080)

I've looked at the widescreen fixer program, but it doesn't seem to support Resident Evil 5.

Any solutions?

Nope :(

At least, not properly. If it wasn't for the cropped menus, I could put up with the wacky HUD.

The game should support that resolution natively, though :?
Did you try to edit config.ini in My DocumentsCAPCOMRESIDENT EVIL 5 ?

Are you sure of this ? The normal FOV is a bit narrow for a TPS, so you may think it's Vert- while in fact it's not.

Well I think Mr Hayden was full of shit, or the joy of fixing it drove him into madness, followed by suicide.

Cutscene FOV Adjusted
Menu's scaled
Gameplay FOV Adjusted

Remaining defects: Black bars during cutscenes, can probably be negated by detecting when a cutscene is in progress and resizing the HUD. (larger the HUD, closer the black bars are to the top and bottom, eventually taking them off screen)

mighta had the FOV up 10-15 degrees too high in the video.

Hey looks great HaYDeN ! I know you're up to the job, :cheers but i think Abram (and all of us in fact) is refering to a public release of the fix, so we could also enjoy this title on surround / eyefinity gaming.

Ooo looking good, Hayden. I've put off playing it a second time waiting for a fix...

Yes, the FOV looks a tad too high for my tastes. The black bars are certainly tolerable. getting the HUD back to the bottom would be nice. But hell, I'd play it right now, as is.

Thanks for not killing yourself.

PS - if you don;t mind sharing, what did you have to do to get it like that?

its all memory editing, multiple points of interest - finding stable pointers [chains of addresses pointing to the data you wish to modify that remain pointing at the same destination after multiple restarts, level changes etc] is what makes UE3 problematic.... hours of digging through ASM.

Can be done by replacing parts of the games code also, but I'm not a fan of this approach for cheat detection reasons (not really a issue with RE5 tho)

Think I have pretty much any UE3 based title under control now however, made alot of ground breaking discoveries with Mass Effect actually.

Looks great, can't wait for release :). I especially like how you changed the FOVs in the video, the default is definitely a bit too zoomed in for my tastes.

Maybe you can make a guide for how to make these game fixes for the rest of us wannabes?

Are you planning on releasing a bunch of game fixes simultaneously or something? I see this isn't the only game pending a release.
