Regional release dates are indeed stupid

A lot of regional releases have different publishers. They are also behind the curve in that they usually need a near-finished product before localization.

Okay, well as I sit here waiting for the 9 hrs or whatever till my steam copy unlocks, i can see that the pirates are already at it...

FU 2k.

Edited: previously said FU securom, then realised steam version doesn't have securom... just the date lock.

Securom is innocent it only does what the publisher wants ;)

Doing a bit of calc and poly-sci while my friend is still at school before I go at it.

Is it just me or is the game cropped in widescreen just like Far Cry 2 ?

Not sure if it is Vert- or not, but the FOV is indeed horrible, and that comes from someone who is usually never bothered by such things.

Looking for a way to change it now...

Also, you can force AA on the game using nHancer and the UE3 profile 41.

There is a "FOVAngle" entry set to 90 in the engine ini, but changing it seems to do nothing. I can't find another FOV setting anywhere.

Note the game's files seem to be called "WillowGame" most of the time for some reason.

Maybe this is a sign that Gearbox have a secret project of a game based on that old Val Kilmer film... remember "Willow"? ;)

Ah... not really a triplehead-only thing, I don't tend to look there.

Thank you very much.

Okay... so my unlocks in 9 hrs was a bit off...

Steam decided to change the release date 1 hr before unlock to another 3 days..................................

I hate this so-called "Digital Distribution" and it's lack of achieving what it should be...

[Slight change in topic]
Speaking of private games, I was wondering if anyone wanted to get in on some Borderlands today since the game unlocked yesterday. There is a solution, and I highly suggest we all jump on it. To get private games going, I've got a VPN set up here (purposes of gaining access to home files while out with my netbook+cellular card). I'm going to insert a generic U/P for those wanting to play Borderlands to be able to hop onto the VPN, and then create/search for LAN mode games on this entirely isolated (you'll still have net access, please don't abuse) subnet in my router. Basically it'll function just the same as if we all plugged in at one house, but we're all at our own houses.

It's a lan party, but without having to take apart your computer, risk it in the back seat of the car, setting it all back up, dealing with the smelly slightly-outcast guy, and not getting enough pizza/booze!

Please PM me if you're interested in trying this function out for the U/P and directions to set it up.

EDIT: Found out I can in fact play online, Gamespy works, just slow and lags up the game while loading the list of open hosted games, I keep getting dropped from these games though, lag out, whatever, annoying. I double-checked with my provider, my cable is working perfectly, so that's not the problem. Matchmaking is the problem. Ugh. My offer still stands folks.

EDIT 2: VPN does not work for hosting LAN games. However, we did get a private game going and invited friends by GaySpy ID, so that was successful enough.

It was always the 30th for outside the US, they just had it listed wrong in some countries.

I'm having trouble getting smooth performance in this game with any tweaks... AA, FOV, etc... the game runs at like 80fps with standard settings but when I tweak something I start getting hickups and sluggish response.

Still, great game.

lvl 22 siren (mercenary) omg the game gets way bigger and more invovled at this level, in the last hour I have discvoered 3 entirely new maps/areas and each one of those maps has several smaller zones inside of it. This game is a lot more like WoW than I thought.

Car travel is not your only option, I just beat a quest earlier that lets me instantly teliport between new me stations as well.

The more you play the game the more it rewards you and starts to unfold all the features it really has. (and environments/enemies)

This game is pure awesome. Level 23 Soldier here, just got to new haven.

So far what I can say is... A: This game is awesome. B: This game has many many minor issues that slightly detract from the experience.

I am at level 13 Soldier so far, finally breaking down and changing FOV.

Keep getting screwed by one of the bosses so it is back to the job board to make some money for the death extortion fees.
