Video Card: eVGA 7900GT KO (Model 256-P2-N584-AR)
Driver: 84.21, 91.31, 91.47, 92.91, 93.71
Monitor: Westinghouse LCM-19W4 (1440x900 native)
Centered Output: NOT Working
Fixed Aspect Ratio Scaling: NOT Working

When I use these scaling settings, my monitor's OSD tells me the input signal from the card is 1280x1024@60Hz (i.e. not the native resolution).
No driver release has ever worked for me.

Video Card: Inno3D 6600GT
Driver: 93.71
Monitor: ViewSonic VG1930wm (1440x900 native)
Centered Output: not working
Fixed Aspect Ratio Scaling: not working

When using centered output on non-native res, it puts it at the center with black all around, but aspect ratio still 16:10. Fixed aspect ratio scaling puts bars at top and bottom. Monitor OSD doesnt allow scaling.

This is the same behaviour I experience. Do any of the people reporting 'working' have 1440 x 900 or are you all 1280 x 1024 ?

I'd be interested to know how many other people are still experiencing this problem.

Monitor: Benq FP231W (short test I did while I tried some other things too)
Centered Output: Working - except a couple times where it didn't, probably westy interference.

Monitor: Acer AL2423WDR
Centered Output: Working
Fixed Aspect Ratio Scaling: Working

A note. My old video card (ATI X850XT PE didn't do very good centered output. Only did it for like 2 different resolutions. I was beginning to think it was the monitor not capable of doing 1:1 pixels for any resolutions lower than 1920x1200. I was wrong. The Nvidia card I have now does it all, whatever I want.

Video Card: 8800GTS
Driver: 6.14.11.6218
Monitor: samsung syncmaster 226bw, and a second plug and play monitor.
Centered Output: can't find this option?
Fixed Aspect Ratio Scaling: working... trough a work-around;
If I leave my monitor on and statr my PC, i can't change the option to fixed aspect, if i only turn it once once windows has started, i can select aspect scaling.
However it tens to go wrong after a few resolution changes anyway, and it only works like this after i used a hd/overscan fix.

I think we should also make note of the OS.
For example in my case under Vista fixed aspect scaling works, but under XP it doesn't work since whenever I click Apply it doesn't stay on the option I chose.

Its referred to as "Do not scale" in the new control panel. I've updated the original post to explain this a bit better.

Driver: 169.09
Operating System: WinXP Pro SP2
Monitor: Syncmaster 931bw

Do Not Scale: Not working...

Is this an nvidia problem only? You're saying if I had an ati card I could fullscreen (4:3) with black bars on the side?

Edit: Works in Vista SP1 x64. Did not test in x86 or non-SP1.

Driver: 169.06
Operating System: Vista SP1 x64
Fixed Aspect Ratio Scaling: Works!
Do Not Scale: Works!

I think ATI can't do it at all, but not sure.
