Read Full Detailed Report - Titanfall

Titanfall is an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts as an exclusive for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The game was officially announced as Respawn's debut game at Microsoft's E3 2013 press conference, and is scheduled for release on March 11, 2014.

In Titanfall, players fight in online multiplayer-only matches set on a war-torn planet as mech-style Titans and their pilots. Its action is fast-paced, including abilities to run on walls and hijack mechs, and extended periods between player deaths. Respawn describes the game as bringing "scale, verticality, and story" to first-person shooter multiplayer gaming, incorporating elements traditionally used in single-player campaigns. The game uses Microsoft's cloud computing services to offload non-player activity to servers and optimize the home computer for graphical performance.

Just got done with my first match since retail release. It looks like Titanfall still has the same issues on release as the beta: no HUD in multi-monitor resolutions and terrible Crossfire artifacting. Disappointing, but not unexpected. Hopefully AMD will release a working Crossfire profile and Respawn will get the HUD corrected before too long.

We'll see!

So I guess this goes back to my original post during beta...

http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=27082&p=151285&hilit=titanfall#p151285

Has anyone figured out how to adjust the HUD or tweak with the VPK files?

Haven't been able to play it myself due to time constraints. But it would be nice to have a HUD fixer for this at some point.

More importantly, this kind of stuff really should be on the dev's. I'd suggest a lobbying effort to try to get these dev's to get the implementation correct before hand, but unfortunately my reach isn't that far. I really hate to be constantly looking at our hard working coders to do the dev's own jobs.

Chime in on the Respawn forums. I know there have been at least a couple posts about HUD issues at high resolutions here:

Yeah I have crossfire disabled for this (and BF4 cos it always crashes with crossfire), but the lack of mini-map is crippling for me. I live on the mini-map, I'm too old to do any good on twitch fighting but I can out-SA anyone! :p

Hope this gets sorted very soon.

I played Titanfall for the first time yesterday and noticed it typically used between 5-6GB of gpu memory at 2560x1080 :wtf: At that res that seems crazy to me. Anyone else experiencing the same kind of heavy gpy memory utilization? Don't get me wrong, actualy using more then 3GB of memory is great, because why would I own a Titan anyways... ;)

This might be a bit off topic, but has anyone got a SLI work around working for this game? 30-40 FPS is killin' me!

At just 1920x1080 on insane texture setting and 4x MSAA it uses ALL 3GB of my 780. To me the textures don't scream USE ALL OF MY VRAM but they are a lot better than the high setting.

Amon Amarth - this is a completely crazy idea, but it might be worth a shot. I noticed that the game was locked to around 60 FPS. So after reading around - I found that you can set the V-Sync to on (within Titanfall) and then go into your nVidia control panel and turn off V-Sync for Titanfall.exe (hope your using nVidia). I'm now running around 100 - 120 FPS. :P

It would be interesting to see if that works.

Well, at least their working on it. I mean honestly, you don't buy a thousand bucks worth of video cards to get 40 FPS on games that look worse than the ones that yield 60 FPS solidly.

Half of me wonders why they didn't have this in place before launch, AFTER the "beta." But then I realize...EA...

I seem to be getting something odd in this game only when inside a titan, I'm using Nvidia Surround, the left and right screens have odd textures in them, sections of the scenery amongst the titan cockpit graphics, almost like I've installed windows in the side of the cockpit!

Am I alone in this issue? Any ideas?

Thanks!

I hate to pry when a whole bunch of fixes already recently came out, but has anyone had any advancements relating to the HUD issue? :nudgenudge:

FPS issues seem to be fixed (almost). But sadly nothing on the HUD yet. They only made a fix for the SMART Pistol's HUD scaling with FoV.

I wish they WOULD get their shit together - they've known it since beta, and they did say they were working on it. Everyone keep harassing them on twitter and the forums.

Well, I would probably have bought this game at launch if it were not for the experience learned by buying the unfinished Battlefield 4 at launch (IMHO the demo worked better than retail by far! I suspect it might have been because it didn't need to support as much features as the retail).

Considering Respawn also has EA at top and that the founders are previously from Infinity ward (those responsible for most of the Call of Duty games) coupled with the amount of time that has already passed since release (not to mention since the "beta"/demo), part of me expects this to never be fixed. I hope it gets fixed, because if it doesn't, what signal will that give to other developers? Well, at least developers that release games on multiple platforms... DAMN CONSOLES! ¤#"!¤!%¤%&"&"#¤%& :P

If I'm not wrong, they still haven't fixed SLI and Crossfire issues?

Bumping the thread here.
Was thinking about buying this game for this weekend, but reading here about Sli and HUD issues with NV Surround, is it fixed?
Maybe just wait it out and play some Elder Scrolls Online until the release of Watch Dogs...

I believe SLI/Crossfire issues have now been resolved. I no longer get any flickering textures when running in Crossfire under the latest AMD drivers, anyway. But no, there's been no fixes to the missing HUD in Eyefinity/NVSurround.

I went into the titanfall profile on Nvidia and it didn't have anything set up to utilise Sli - in other words there is no proper profile released by Nvidia yet (forums seem to confirm that). A work around uses the Half Life 2 flag, and I ran the game with that - it seem to work fine. I at the in-game FPS indicator enabled and it didn't seem to drop below 60 fps, but I'm not sure how smooth it is. The game has issues with some mouse acceleration, and cpu usage - there's a variety of info out there to tweak the game to get to run smoothly.

A Titanfall companion app has been released, would I be correct in thinking that this running on a Nexus 7 (temporarily donated by the misus.. :shh: ) or similar propped up uinder the middle screen would make this playable?

It's fixed now. I think as of this morning. I tried to post about it but hadn't seen it show up yet. I took screens and everything. It looks great. Map in top left corner of middle screen and HUD rendered perfectly

I'm confused by the success with this game. I've setup a custom widescreen aspect ratio on my HTPC in my theater for my 2.37 screen using Nvidia control panel. When I play games or play widescreen movies, I zoom in with my motorized lens. I don't use all the pixels at the top or bottom of the chip.

The desktop re-sizes fine. When I go into the menus in Titanfall, it says I am set to the 1920x816 res. When I play the game, it is still tries to use the screen real estate above and below those 816 pixels.

Anybody with a similar setup and a fix? Its not exactly the same as multi-monitor, but I should get the same results.
