Displayport-to-VGA Adapter = Successful 3 Monitor Eyefinity
This is great news. Can those of you that have it running report on if you have any limitations in resolution etc please?

Eyefinity with different size monitors ?
Nice video, looks great. Just a quick question though. I notice there is no steering wheel visible in the ingame cockpit, how did you remove it? Great when you are using a real wheel yourself.

Re: Eyefinity rocks
Sorry about all the flak you are taking off some of the yahoos on this forum, going Displayport was a bold move and didn't take away from existing capabilities. If you can afford 3 monitors, you can afford the DPtoDVI adapter. Those kids don't know how the market works.

Displayport-compatible screens needed for Eyefinity?
We´re just saying they shouldn´t tout their own horn too much about "inventing" this stuff, not trying to take away from it being a great product... I agree about the biggest downside at the moment is the lack of available adapters. I´m in Sweden and currently there is nowhere to purchase these from ...

Yeah I guess for people who hasn´t been around long enough and only know about GeForce and Radeon cards think that this is something new, when in fact Matrox had it working "out of the box" a long time ago just like Mustang said...

Is it just me that thinks Sunsp*t is trying to get credit for "inventing" something that´s already been around for years? A lot of us here have been using multi monitor configurations for a very long time, surround gaming included. Honestly, what´s so new and inventive about Eyefinity?

Portrait mode over Landscape better for Eyefinity gaming ?
Personal preference of course, but this would basically "just" give you a large, high resolution screen with large bezels. Aspect ratio would be almost the same as a regular widescreen.
At least for gaming I think what most people are after is the higher FOV, not mainly the higher resolution.

Displayport-compatible screens needed for Eyefinity?
Sales-talk about flexibility, upgradeability etc aside I think it´s safe to say if AMD/ATI from the start had set out to make Eyefinity available to the masses (IE people with DVI/HDMI connections) the cost per card for doing this would have been almost negligable compared to the current $100 we ...

It´s a good question though; when/if they get Eyefinity working on Crossfire if you can hook up two DVI-monitors on one card and the third on the other card. Would save the cost of the active DP>DVI adapter and "almost" make the second card free, at least when prices have dropped a little.

Yeah would be nice to know what type of chip are in those active Dell adapters. Posted something in another thread (although this chip is DP > VGA):

any 42-46" HDTV that have thin bezel?
Well if you look up the "borderless" LG 42SL8000 on youtube you´ll see that when it´s showing something on the screen there are indeed fairly thick bezels. I´m estimating about 3 centimeters thick on each side.

DisplayPort to DVI adapters??
I´d also be interested to know what (if any) converters to VGA from Displayport that might work with Eyefinity. For example this chip looks to me like a "active" converter:

There was a clip posted today on youtube with an Eyefinity setup. The poster there also confirmed it does not work with a simple DP > DVI adapter.

Yeah the Dell P2210 seems to be the cheapest option when looking for a replacement 22-incher with Displayport connection. Not that I feel very comfortable having an "odd" centre-screen different than the two others...

Well for $35 it sounds like an adapter not a converter. To go from analog (vga) to DP/HDMI/DVI (digital) you would need a device to transcode the signal on the fly and they are usually $100+

So anyone see any reason a simple Displayport > VGA converter from HP, Dell etc for around $35 shouldn´t work for this?

Ah, would be great if that works Dave. Getting a DP converter is certainly cheaper than getting new screens.

Yeah, kinda figured that. Bummer as I have three 22" LG W2241S with only VGA connections at home. Guess it´s a good time to ditch those and get 24" instead.
