Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion

Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion is the expansion pack to the 1999 real-time strategy game Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings. The Conquerors is the fourth installment in the Age of Empires series. It features five new civilizations (the Aztecs, Mayans, Spanish, Koreans, and Huns), four new campaigns, eleven new units, twenty-six new technologies, new gameplay modes and different minor tweaks to the gameplay.

Additional maps, some based on real life geographic locations, and new winter and tropical terrain textures were included.
In-game, infantry are able to garrison in battering rams, protecting the infantry while increasing the ram's speed and attack, while ships are able to form formations for more effective fighting. The graphics are the same, but new civilizations have been added such as the Spanish and the Huns. In addition to new units, the in-game upgrade lines have been extended to provide more unit choices.

This DR focuses on boekabart's AoE2Wide patch (compatible with Conquerors v1.0, 1.0c and the unofficial 1.0e).
User StepS reported a possible alternative solution for widescreen support: Userpatch 1.1 (currently in beta).

How It Works: It changes the effective resolution of the 1280x1024 (or 1024x768, 800x600) choice to your desktop resolutions (but other options are possible), by changing some of the occurrences of 1280, 1024 and related numbers inside the binary.

It also changes all interface graphics to the right resolution by duplicating some lines and repeating the rightmost pixels.

It writes a new exe and a new version of interfac.drs, both with a different name. The patched exe refers to this new interfac.drs, not to the original one. You can't lose anything.

After running AoE2Wide, you will get a link (batch file) on your desktop that links to the new, hi-res AoE2 !

It works on NoCD versions only, since the original exe's are encrypted and therefore unpatchable. 1.0, 1.0c and 1.0e supported.

.Net 3.5 SP1 is required, but the supplied MSI will install this for you if necessary.

If you install (msi) or download the patcher, make sure you put the files in a subfolder of your AoE2 game directory, or it won't be able to find the right files.

Focus to readme file (included) and "suspend delay" option. This corrects black background after game is exited!

With this color FIX, do not use batch file. Just take your own generated age2_x1_AAAAxBBBB.exe from game root folder, rename it back to age2_x1.exe and move or copy to Age2_x1 folder in your game folder.

Same as WS solution, the solution supports portrait and landscape resolutions.

The game's main interface sticks to the lower left corner of the display. The interface itself takes up to 1280 pixels in width, then stretched graphics run across the display all the way to the right corner.
