Help! Eyefinity not working...

Post by cutesniper22 »

I setup eyefinity with following spec, but not working... Does anyone know to fix this?

Setup info:
1. 3x dell s2415h monitor (HDMI/VGA port)
2. Radeon r9 280x
3. I setup eyefinity with 3 different cabling pattern :HDMI cable + (HDMI to DVI cable)+ (HDMI cable+ HDMI to DVI adapter) (As I knew that R9 200 series does not require DP for eyefinity: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7400/the-radeon-r9-280x-review-feat-asus-xfx/3)

All the monitors are running if you connect them alone?

Only 2 monitors able to display properly after 3 ports(hdmi+dvi+dvi) connected.

I tried to switch among these 3 ports... the result still remain same, only 2 displayable monitors.
I just wonder will the hdmi to dvi adapter is root cause for this?

Just an alternative question: what is the difference between (hdmi to dvi cable) and (hdmi to dvi adapter + hdmi cable). Will the result be same?

Cables are 99% passive Adapters only.
While an adapter could be passive or active.

Seems like you need an Active Dp adapter to get it working.

Except for a few somewhat rare cards, you must use at least one active adapter. I use two of these to run Eyefinty + 1 setup: https://www.startech.com/AV/Displayport ... er~DP2DVIS

I found them for under $30 Canadian, and they've been working perfectly. I've used them before with an additional DVI-HDMI and they worked fine. I don't even recall ever seeing anything BUT DVI Active adapters.. So you may be forced to use two adapters on a single cable - which should be fine.
