DOTA2 - 21:9 HUD with usable shop!

Hey people,

For the past few days I've been trying to get my HUD on DOTA2 sorted so that I could have something which looked presentable & also worked with the known shop issues...

This is what i've ended up with, its not perfect by any means but it works for now (until valve pull a finger out and sort the 21:9 scaling - if they ever will ) the shop is still usable, all items and recipes can now be purchased by clicking, as in the below screenshot occasionally the out of scale shop sign overlays a recipe but its still purchasable if you click just above the sign....




So all you need too do is download the file I've uploaded to this thread, extract it anywhere on your computer then copy & paste the hud_skins folder too:


computer > Local Disc (C:) > Program Files > Steam > SteamApps > Common > dota 2 beta > dota > resource > flash 3 > images...


once you have done this, go to your steam library right click your DOTA 2 game and put this in launch options:

-enable_addons +con_enable 1


and that's it done, you should be able to play the game in 21:9 (2560 x 1080) with a decent looking HUD and still be able to use the shop menu as normal!

Just tweeted this out on the WSGF account. I see the screenshot is 2560x1080. Would it also work for 3440x1440?

Hey people, thanks for the comments.

Skipclarke I haven't tested it on anything higher than 2560x1080 my brother has the LG 34UM95 so next weekend i'll see if I can borrow it and test it out, I think it should be fine as at 3440x1440 it should still scale up to the same 21:9 ratio, everything will just look a touch bigger...

I'll keep you updated when I know for sure or if anybody has a similar sized monitor by all means test it and let me know how you get on. If this seems to work for most I may look into modifying some other HUDS to use...

Just made this account to tell you, that you sir, are a God, a scholar, and a gentleman. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; I had just bought a 21:9 monitor, had spent all my hard earned money to enjoy the widescreen view of the doto. But to my dismay, I would not.
