new gaming set **work in progress**

Post by gooky4u »

Hi all,

Name is Kevin and im new to the forum. Just recently upgraded into the triple screen monitor world....I was running a single 47" for the longest time.

Im in the process of reconfiguring my set up to a new location. I have a spare bedroom that I will be converting into an office/gaming/man cave with my computer set up and will be purchasing the WSGF Freedom Ultimate Stand v2. Since everyone always wants pics, I will be posting pictures of the progress since I figure people would want to see what the stand looks like and what not.

As it sits right now, here is my current set up:

:triplewide:

Current Specs:

47" Vizio LCD as Accessory monitor
3x24" Asus VN247H-P in eyefinity

asus maximus hero VI
i7 4770k
Cooler Master Hyper 212 heatsink
XFX AMD 7970 Double D
20gb crucial ram
cooler master storm stryker tower
samsung evo 840 120gb SSD (OS)
WD 2tb HD
WD 500GB HD
WD 320gb HD
Antec 850w PS

in coming weeks, second 7970 will be coming for a crossfire set up along with a new desk and some accent lighting to accompany the relocation of my set up. Currently sits in my master bedroom and gathers many complaints from the girlfriend, lol.

but definitely looking forward to ordering the monitor stand! was looking at the XFX triple monitor stand, but such a huge footprint! the WSGF one looks so much more practical!

*EDIT*

Heres a pic of the work in progress

So the new desk has been picked up and now sitting in my garage just waiting to be assembled. After much search, I went with the Realspace Magellan Collection Corner L Desk from Office Depot.

In addition, found a steal of a deal on a XFX double D 7970 so thats on its way for my crossfire set up.

Next on the list is the WSGF 3x1 Freedom stand and a 27" monitor.

The eventual layout will be basically 3x1x1. I will be running 3 24" monitors with a 27" accessory monitor and will have a 47" mounted on the wall with an articulating mount next to my desk for netflix/hulu/movies etc.

Should have the desk and setup somewhat put together minus some parts in the coming week and will post pictures of progress! Stayed tuned!

Nice gear, I'm sure it'll be great!

I bought one of those desks with the matching hutch for my wife's office. It's a classy looking desk, but I hated every moment I spent putting it together.

lol....thats what ive heard. the assembly process is a bit of an investment in time. But of the desks I looked at, this was the one i liked the most and was most functional. being a true corner desk and not just an L shaped desk with the most attractive factor. Because of the footprint of the monitor stands I was looking up are so large, such as the WSGF one or the XFX stand, i wanted something with ample space. Extremely excited to put it all together, but need to find some time. plan to start putting together most if not all of the desk late tonight

Heres a pic of the temporary set up. Still a lot of tidying up to do. Still need to purchase some misc. pieces to clean up the look. Probably gonna have to buy some USB extension cords for my keyboard. A bit intense. But in the coming weeks, Ill clean everything up and make it look nice. Still have LED lights and stuff to order and set up as well.

lol yea. one of the adjustment knobs for the stand, the one to slide it back and forth on the rail was a bit difficult. Just a touch of wd-40 loosened it up.

LED lights came in. Got them most of the way set up. Will do more. And yes, I know, i need to tidy up my wires. I have to send my MST Hub in for a warranty claims. having some issues with it and it could possibly be because I am on an older firmware version. Kinda stupid how I have to ship it back to them to get a replacement. But waiting on that before I take everything apart and start tidying up the wires.

Yes its comfortable. Plus, the LEDs come with a remote and I can adjust the color or brightness depending on mood/situation/whatever. There are moments I like to game in the darkness and the LEDs give just enough lighting so I can still see things and not knock my beer/drink over, find my vape, etc. So its perfect.

I will be tweaking the LEDs in the weeks to come, but unfortunately, I had to send my MST Hub back in for a firmware update. I bought the club 3d sensevision MST hub which was SUPPOSED to be plug and play, but have had nothing but issues with it. After connecting my monitors, everytime my screens would go to sleep, the hub would "power" itself down and upon bring the monitors back on, the eyefinity arrangement keeps getting out of whack. After different cable combinations and methods, there was no plausible solution. I even tried powering the monitors down individually but it kept throwing everything out of whack and powering down. THe only solution was to reset my computer or power down my PC and then turn it back on to keep my arrangement.

Supposedly, they're suspecting its because the firmware I was sent was a bit outdated, so just shipped it off today and hopefully Ill get a new one back within a week or two, but as of yet, their support system is not the greatest. Response times are extremely slow and respond at the weirdest times. Ive had replies to my emails/forum posts at 8am, but Ive also had them at 3am. Their email response is AT LEAST 24 hours for simply replies.

I know this is a bit off topic, but I went out and purchased the club 3d MST based on this forum and the reviews I read/watched because of this forum featuring it. But so far, am extremely disappointed. Just thought Id throw that out there just in case anyone was interested.

Once I get the new hub, I also ordered a bunch of longer cables and some USB extensions so I can run everything cleanly and will tidy up my wiring and extend the LED light strips. Also, putting some more manly things on the wall and tidying up the place. Theres stuff EVERYWHERE, lol. Stay tuned.

Alright, MOST of my wire management around the desk and monitor stand is done. Under the desk is a different story. Theres just SO many wires. In hindsight, I should have ran each wire one by one and organized, but I was working on a limited time clock. But I must say, I am mostly pleased with how it came out. Like I said, the wiremanagement under the desk is rough, but I can live with it. Now its just cleaning and organizing the area and putting more manly things around the walls lol
