Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
I don't own this game yet, but it is getting some good reviews. Does anyone know if it has (partial) triple wide or 21:9 support?
EDIT: I guess this post came a little early. Was thrown of by the reviews that came out, which made me think that the game was out as well. We will have to wait until the 30th to answer the question above.

Re: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
I'm dead keen on this game, and I know Helifax is too. I've tried to get straight answers out of the devs prior to launch - but nothing yet. I'll keep trying though. According to Wiki it uses an in-house engine (Lithtech engine) so who knows.

Re: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
Well, it appears to be using the same engine as Assassin's Creed, since a lot of the move sets are similar (possibly the same engine). If that's the case, then there should be Surround support. Not an accurate assessment however. So, here's hoping to Surround and SLI support on launch.
Re: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
Hey guys, just wanted to post some screenshots of the game playing at 2560x1080. So far, it seems rocks solid. The game renders natively in the 21:9 aspect ratio including menus and hud. Some cutscenes are in video format 16:9 which puts black bars on the sides. I have only been playing for a little while but this seems like a rock solid port so far. Here are the screenshots and I will post more if I find any issues.

Re: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
It might do okay at 2560x1080, but not 5760 x 1080, or 5892 x 1080 which is what I usually play at (bezel corrected). It cuts the sides off so it only uses about 3 inches of each surround monitor. If I were not about to hang it up for the night I would post some pics. In any case, it recognizes my resolution, but does not render across all three screens fully. I tried full screen, borderless, etc., but no dice. If you try "maximized" setting it crashes to desktop. I played it a little while on single monitor to get a look at it and it seems awesome, but looks like it will need some work before Surround will work. It a graphics hog and not optimized very well for sli. I have quad sli and GPUs barley go above 50%, yet frame rate suffers. The camera is also funky. Its like it has acceleration on it. You barley move the mouse and it barley moves...move the mouse a little more, then it swings around 360 degrees before you know what's up. I turned down all settings for camera and mouse, but it still does it. It has great potential, but is going need some tweaks and time to figure out what works best. There's a config file in My Docs, but its very limited.

Can you tell if the fov is the same at 21:9 and 16:9 (comparing screenshots of both?).

Thanks you sir! Thinks look good. So if the game is taxing, running it at 60fps at 2560x1080 would be more easily attainable (compared to 5760x1080).
How come you guys have the game already? Is it out in your region?
EDIT: Now I see that the game was released yesterday instead of today. Is it just me, or are those release dates jumping around like crazy.

Anyone with Surround/Eyefinity can give some info on how the game behaves at these resolutions?

I had a feeling that was the case... Now to see exactly how broken it is:)) I hope it's just the UI that spans or does funky stuff...but somehow I doubt that will be the only problem...

Hopefully, you are able to fix the surround problems.
I won't ever play a game without surround.

I'll look when it finishes, depends how difficult it is to fix... also getting late.. but Helifax might get something out.

Re: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
In a German Forum I saw this Possible Solution in changing an INI-File:
http://www.computerbase.de/forum/showth ... st16341108
I cant test this, i dont own the game yet
5760*1080 ingame = 5760*3240 ini
1920*360 ingame = 1920*1080 ini

Re: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
Hayden was working to the wee hours this morning (3-4am) to try and get this out, but I see he is offline now. When I spoke to him, he said he was having luck with a fix. There is a way to enable the game to span to whatever aspect ratio you want via an .ini tweak - but he didn't want me to post it, because it would mess with his eventual fix. It does seem to make the game scale properly (although I still think it's slightly zoomed) but that could just be FOV issues, BUT the hud spans, and the in-game menu stuff is Vert-.
So there are a few things to work out, and by centring the HUD, hopefully that doesn't fuck with the in-game markers (which can happen). The good news is, that it looks like we should be able to enjoy this game in Surround/Eyefinity thanks to these smart kids (Helifax will also have a look), and no thanks to the lazy devs. For a game that spouts Nvidia, it doesn't have Sli support, or Surround support.

No SLI support? No wonder I was getting such crappy frame rates. You're right, Its hard to believe a game with the "Nvidia" logo on the opening title has no SLI support. Not to mention how graphically intensive it is. At least it looks like its fixable. Il wait patiently for the fix. Thanks for the heads up!

To enable SLI use the app nvidia Inspector and force it to AFR2 and it will enable SLI no prob works great.
Make sure in the reg Nvidia cntrl panel you add the game first so you can see the profile in nvidia Inspector.
