5x1p EYEFINITY @ 144hz

Post by Hatlesschimp »

I currently have 3 ASUS VG248QE 144hz monitors and I want a another 2 to make a 5 x 1 portrait eyefinity setup.

I have a Powercolor AMD 290X vanilla with 2 DVI-D, DP, HDMI. Can I get 5 monitors going at 144hz?

I think I may have to wait for a Non Refference card to arrive that has more Displayports but in the mean time can I get the 5 monitors going at 60hz maybe?

What adapters are available other than the CLUB3D sensevision

Hi, using the Club3D MST hub + 2x DVI-D you will be able to connect up to 5 monitors.
Unfortunately DP1.2 has 17.28Gbit/s of bandwidth, to drive 3x 1920x1080@144hz would require 21.5Gbit/s of bandwidth.

The highest you could go using 3 monitors on a MST hub would be 1920x1080@115hz = 17.19Gbit/s of bandwidth, so running 5 of them (3 off the MST hub + 2 via DVI-D) at 60hz would be no problem.

Idealy you would want an E6 edition of the card with 6 DP / 4xDP + 2xDVI outputs to be able to drive all 5 monitors at 144hz.

(and you probably want to add another 2 or 3 of those 290x if you want 144fps @ 5400x1920)
