Oculus Rift VR set

Post by sparx1981 »

Ok, so I've seen that there is a fundraiser for getting hold of a few Occulus Rift sets. Sounds like a great idea, personally I cant wait for these to be out. Do you think they'll still be around the $300 mark when they are launched? If so it's not too bad a price. I'm in the UK though and I expect the price to be higher probably.

Also, as a development kit, I doubt it will work at all with any existing games will it? Forgetting the movement, I was wondering if it would simply work as a monitor.

I tried it out at Quakecon

I tried it out at Quakecon and I have to say, it seems pretty awesome. I'm very excited for it to be released and for the kinks (better head mounting, for instance) to be worked out. I get the impression it'll be sometime in 2013, considering the state the prototype was in. And by that time, it should be a little more affordable. Who knows, maybe the next console revolution is going to involve VR.. maybe.
