Hello All,

I am only new to the multiable monitor gaming and to this site. I was wondering if someone may be able to assist me in setting up Eyefinity.

I have a black screen under the Active Display Port Adapter.

My Setup.

I am using a AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB GDDRS

I have my middle monitor using HDMI - Working Fine

I have another using DVI Slot - Using a DVI to VGA adaptor - Working Fine

However I have a black screen using an Active Display Port Adapter, which than plugs into a DVI to VGA Adaptor.

THINGS I HAVE TRIED

I have swapped monitors and any monitor that I plug into the active display port adaptor has the black screen

I have updated Graphics card drivers

Followed a video on you tube which shows a black screen, this is fixed by setting monitors to duplicate monitor number 1. I have tried this however I still dont get a signal.

Running windows 7 SP1 as it is not genuine at the moment, Do I need to update Dirert X to fix this?

Any help would be great. Thanks Drew

I think that you cannot use a active display port to dvi to vga. If you have a dvi slot left on your GPU use that or use a mini displayport slot if you have and connect a mini display adaptor to hdmi and then a hdmi cable into the monitor.

Hi Drew,

Your problem is the daisychain from Active Display Port > DVI-D and the DVI-I > VGA adapter. (I tried doing something similar to start with). Basically, the first adapter only sends a digital signal and the second adapter is looking for an analogue signal that isn't present. You will need to use a single Display Port to VGA adapter.

I have a HD6950 with 2x Mini Dispaly Port > VGA and a DVI-I > VGA to run three monitors.
These are the Mini Display Port to VGA adapters I'm using - http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MB572Z/A

Thanks guys for your help. So just to confirm.

I have one hdmi.
One dvi I and both of these work.

I have another dvid however I don't have an adaptor so I'm not using it. And I don't have a mini display port.

So if I get a dvi to dvi cable. Than I should be able to unplug dvi to VGA adaptor from active display port and go straight from dvi connection on the back of active display port adaptor to dvi slot on monitor.

Many thanks guys. Only new to this and is frustrating to get up and running. I did ask the guy at computer shop about plugging the dvi to VGA adaptor into the display port adaptor and he said it would work, but I guess I got a bump steer from him. Cheers drew
