Post by Killabee »

Hello WSGF i was using a GTX 580 and was able to get 5040x1050 right out of the box until my card took a dump~
i was only able to replace with my current card which was supposed to also be a slight upgrade. However i am not able to meet my resolution needs with this card for some reason. Im also new to using AMD as i have had Nvidia products until now. Im looking for any help to get my resolution back to 5040x1050

Have you completely removed the nvidia drivers, like so? Can you set your monitors to their native resolution when in single display or extended mode (using p+win)? What happens when you set your monitors to duplicate mode?

I also ask why you haven't tried Eyefinity.

It may be a lost cause, but try this: Thread

EDIT: I also have a sneaking suspicion about why the above solution wont work. I believe the TH2go is not sending 5040x1050 as it's highest supported resolution through EDID. This is kinda required. On my 30" monitor, I can only choose a resolution as tall as or lower than 1600 pixels and a resolution as wide as or lower than 2560. I think in order for this to work, Matrox has to make a firmware that will allow transmission of EDID information.

eyefinity? .. honestly i didn't know what that was until you said something.
To answer your question as to why i would use my matrox box is because i already owned the box from prior setups why go with anything else when i already am good with my triplehead2go. // however thank you for shedding the light on eyefinity i will check it out in the future.

as to the first reply when i bought the new card i also bought an SSD hard drive so i did a complete fresh install of windows so there were no old drivers. ((Fyi if you haven't gone SSD i recommend it the read times are amazing))

Solution for me is to just use this card until i can exchange it for another GTX 580 3GB card. Reason i can get my resolution is this card will only push out a max of 3840x1024 with triplehead2go digital .. unless there is some kind of work around that matrox obviously does not support.

you can check the different cards with this compatibility wizard here
http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/support/compatibility/gxm/
my card is not listed .. probably to new.

thx for the replyz

Amigo, instead of swapping cards just get a DisplayPort or MiniDisplayport adapter. That is all you need to get Eyefinity working, rather than swapping out GPUs.
