Should I get a Xonar DG or Xonar DS for my gaming audio pleasure? DG seems to a better choice because it has the headphone amplifier feature and I do have a decent Sony MDR-XD200 headphone. But will the extra 2dB SNR and 192KHz sample rate support in DS make any difference?
I have considered Asus Xonar DX but my GPU blocked the first PCIe x1 slot and second PCIe x1 slot is too close to the GPU. So that leaves me only the DG & DS models which utilizes PCI.
Asus Xonar DG vs. DS vs. DX
You would not notice the 2dB
You would not notice the 2dB and 192Khz support, but if the DS has better parts on the output side, you may/ would notice those.
I believe also only the DG has Dolby headphone, which might be useful for gaming (I am thinking of getting a DG personally as they are cheap as chips and audiophile stuff should be fed out digitally anyway to a proper DAC)
