Hello,
I have an Alienware M17x R3 gaming laptop, I have 1.5GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M graphics card on it.
I have 1 miniDisplayPort out, 1 HDMI out port, 1 VGA out port, 1 HDMI in port on my laptop.
I want to use 3 external LCD monitors (1920x1080 resolution for each) with my laptop.
Is there a cheap way to use 3 monitors with my laptop? For example: Can I connect 1 LCD to HDMI, 1 LCD to VGA, 1 LCD to miniDisplayPort so that I can use 3 LCD monitors (1920x1080 resolution for each) with my laptop??
How many monitors does m17x-r3 support without any external graphics card or without a TripleHead2Go device?
If I get a TripleHead2Go DP (DisplayPort) Edition which supports 5760x1080 resolution, can I use all 3 LCD monitors (1920x1080 resolution for each) in vertical position instead of horizontal (standart) position??
Here is the explanation:
In horizontal (standart) position of LCD monitors, it makes 3 x ( h1920 x v1020) = h5760 x v1080 resolution and TripleHead2Go DP Edition is said to support this resolution, but in vertical position of 3 LCD monitors ??
In vertical position of LCD monitors, it makes 3 x ( h1080 x v1920 ) = h3240 x v1920 ,right?? Is this configuration possible with TripleHead2Go DP Edition??
And last question, where can I find the cheapest "TripleHead2Go DP Edition (product code: T2G-DP-MIF)" on the internet? I can order it in USA or in Europe and my friends can bring it to me, it is not a problem.
Thank you folks!
:)
I need advise on 3 monitor setup with Alienware M17x R3
Nvidia with "display Port"?
Nvidia with "display Port"? I dont think so. 2 monitors per Nvidia. Need second video card for your 3rd monitor.
or get.....TripleHead2go with one Nvidia = 3 monitors
correct me if I am wrong. I dont think Nvidia has any display ports?

Alienware m17x r3 laptop has Nvidia GTX460M (1.5GB DDR5) graphics card, very new computer (2 months old) and it has 1 HDMI out, 1 VGA out, 1 Mini DisplayPort out and 1 HDMI in port. I checked on manifacturer's web site and I saw that GTX460M supports up to 5760x1080 resolution.
So, can I connect 2 LCD monitors to my laptop?? One LCD to mini displayport out and 1 LCD to HDMI out ??
LCD1 (1920x1080, connected to HDMI out port)+ Laptop's own LCD (1920x1080) + LCD2 (1920x1080, connected to mini displayport out port)
So total of 3 monitors will be also okay for me. Is this configuration avaliable for Nvidia??
