Windows 7 SP1 problems

Post by hippos »

I was wondering if anyone was having problems installing Windows 7 SP1 due to their AMD graphics drivers/software.

Everytime I try to install W7SP1, I get an error. Digging deeper into the cause of the error, Microsoft says that the AMD drivers/software are preventing the update. Microsoft says I have to remove all AMD drivers/software and then REINSTALL Windows 7 so I can then apply SP1!

Anyone have any experience with this? I was hoping the 11.4 drivers would allow an update to W7SP1, but I got the new drivers and W7SP1 still won't install.

TIA

I read of this issue elsewhere, and I too, had problems after putting SP1 on. I formatted when i got my new mobo, it wasn't a big deal for me.

One would think that you could simply uninstall the driver, install SP1, then put the drivers back on...

You may be able to remove Sp1, though. Go to Program s& Features, click on 'View Installed Updates' at top-left. If the Service Pack is in there, you should be able to uninstall it.

And apparently programs like Driver Sweeper fudge with Sp1 components. If you used that, it could be the source of your problems.
