I recently purchased an Asus VG236H with an Nvidia 3D Vision kit. I love the 3D effect, and I would love to have the benefit of periferal vision through 3D Surround as well. However, using three 3D monitors next to each other seems wasteful: Let's say I have a 3D Vision surround setup with three 3D monitors. When playing anything but RTS games (which I pretty much never play), my eyes are always on the center screen. The side monitors are just for periferal vision. The result of this is that only a very tiny fraction of the left screen is visible to my right eye and vice versa. Thus, I will not benefit at all from the 3D capabilities of the side monitors. So my thought is: It should not be necessary to use three 3D monitors to enjoy 3D Vision Surround. The side monitors could simply be regular 60 Hz LCDs, with the left monitor only showing the image for the left eye and the right monitor only showing the image for the right eye. These monitors would then not need to be synced with the shutter glasses. The only problem is that this option is not supported by Nvidia's drivers. As far as I can tell, it should be pretty straight forward for Nvidia to implement this, unless there are some difficulties that I have not thought of. Anyone care to comment on this?
