How to mount a monitor to the wall? LG Flatron 2353

Post by maryparker »

I just ordered a 23in LG Flatron 2353 and I had plans to mount it up to the wall. I bought a wall mount and was ready to install it. I came to notice that the Flatron 2353 did not have holes in the back to mount to the wall mount. Are there any other methods to mount this monitor on the wall?

Fashion something that can either hold the monitor up, like a little shelf and something to hold the base secure, or a bracket type thing that wraps or grabs the edges. It's amazing that some models still have no VESA mounting options. Most are LG.

Or return it and grab a different display.

LG is very mounting unfriendly as far as I have seen. All of their 20"+ monitors lack mounting screws on LCD and LED models.

If you want to do a bit of modding, you can super glue a standard 100x100 mounting bracket to the back of it. ( I wouldn't suggest screws as it looks like the power inverter and control cards are right underneath the plastic in that spot) On the LGs i'm not sure if the base comes off easily or if you'll need to crack open the case to detach it.

Either way, you'll more than likely be voiding any warranty you have.

Let me know what you decide. I've been itching to tear apart an LG.
