Eyefinty good for a year, today it wont work.

I am a bit stuck! I have had eyefinity going since october 2009 on my 5970 and apart from the early struggles its been working fine.

For over a year I have had it going at 5760x1200, at times I have disabled the group and recreated with no issues at all. Today I was playing DCS A10 and I control escaped from full screen in to the desktop and I was greeted by an eyefinity display in duplicate mode across 3 monitors. I have ctrl-esc out of this game lots of times and this never happened.

So now my problem is that I cannot create the 3x1 display group again. I do it the same way I have always done it but it just wont work. It goes through the steps and even asks me if my monitors are in the right position but even at that point I am in duplicate mode. If I go to screen resolution I have the group res options but if I click on them and apply nothing happens.

I uninstalled the drivers and them used driver sweeper in case something lingering had been corrupted. Reinstalled and the same problem..

Does anyone know!?

How odd. Are you using a DisplayPort-to-VGA/DVI/HDMI adapter? My first guess is that either your adapter, or video card is defective. If your possible adapter is using a USB port for power, try another port.

OK, I will give that a go, I have tried everything else..

Yes I am using the apple active adaptor, its been working since I got the card. I sure hope nothing is busted, or if something is it's just the adaptor. It's very sad as you can imagine, I cant play my current favourite game :)

The only recent thing I have done is add a new 5770 about a week/half ago to power a fourth screen for my sims gauges. No real problems there so its shouldnt be related to that.

unfortunately not.. I have exhausted all my tricks now and no one I know has an active adaptor to try it out with to test if mine is faulty.. What a bummer.

Actually, I can plug it in to my laptop and that in to my 30" to see if the adaptor is the problem. In some way I wish it ws stuffed so at least I know where the issue is and I can get another, and play! :)

Phew, a system restore to a point before the tabbing out of game has fixed it. Some setting must have got corrupted.

Glad it takes them by default as I have never played with system restore before.
