To get the ability to rotate, I seem to have to unplug the monitor going into displayport. then by some sort of magic combo, I can rebuild the eyefinity desktop to portrait mode.
Problem is once I go back to landscape, I have to repeat this nonsense over and over.
It seems to be some sort of bug in Catalyst which greys out the ability to select portrait when all 3 monitors are plugged in.
What a PITA.
Any thoughts?
anybody else having problems moving in and out of portrait?

I find that if you disable the group, then pick your orientation it works like it's supposed to.
