Resolved Known Issues for the Windows 7 Operating System
This section provides information on resolved known issues in this release of the AMD Catalyst 10.11 software suite for Windows 7. These include:
Running fullscreen DirectX 9 applications/games after enabling Aero effects and rebooting no longer causes the system to randomly stop responding
Primary display no longer blanks out intermittently during "World in Conflict™: Soviet Assault" DirectX10 gameplay with CrossFire and Dual Monitor enabled
"Stone Giant" DirectX 11 demo no longer intermittently fails in fullscreen mode with CrossFire enabled under Multi-GPU configurations on some cards
Task switching out of "Battlefield: Bad Company™ 2" and then back into the game no longer causes CrossFire to become disabled
Enabling in-game Anti-Aliasing and utilizing Edge-Detect filters no longer causes smoother lines but blurry textures when compared to the Standard filter on some cards
Desktop line corruption is no longer observed after hotplugging the HDCP display on some cards
Enabling Overdrive through the Catalyst™ Control Center for single display systems no longer results in GPU clocks running at high levels in non-GPU intensive scenarios
Resolved Known Issues for the Windows Vista Operating System
Running fullscreen DirectX 9 applications/games after enabling Aero effects and rebooting no longer causes the system to randomly stop responding
When "World of Warcraft" is launched via TriDef® 3D and hardware cursor is enabled, the mouse cursor no longer intermittently flickers and disappears
Hot swapping a HDCP display panel with a non-HDCP display no longer causes the display to turn blank after resuming from sleep/hibernate during Blu-ray disc playback
New profiles added to this release:
- F1 2010 (DirectX 11 version) – starting application through Command line support now includes CrossFire acceleration support
- Left 4 Dead 2 – Updated CrossFire profile for “The Sacrifice” updated version of Left 4 Dead 2
These do NOT support the new 68xx cards! If you ... like me ... upgraded recently then you're best off using the 10.10e Hotfix drivers.

What video card do you have?
Have you not downloaded and installed the Hotfix 10.10e drivers?

installed the 10.11 and I get all manner of artifacting and tearing on the desktop. Just dragging a window spikes my gpu usage to 18%. video playback is non-existant. Back to 10.10 and all is well again. Tried installling over the 10.10 and when that didn't work uninstalled and used driversweeper.

This is a generic TDR error and not spesifically a driver error (though in some cases, some drivers can be more vulnerable to the errors then others). Can be anything from your memory timings or errors to psu crapping out. Something is wrong with your machine. Here's a good thread on nvidia.com regarding TDR errors and troubleshooting:
I have a 5970, don't think anything is broken, all rather new, mem timings are also not the cause, running them at stock speeds.
I have 10.10 normal, should I be getting 10.10 hotfix to? Or maybe a rlly old driver? 10.3/10.5a ?? (I rlly like it to be stable, less preformance is ok with me).
For the TDR thing, my screen just goes black for 5 sec, then it's back again, when I go to my desktop I see this message stopped responding & has been recovered etc.
So when I stay in game it's 5 sec black screen & I can continue, but it happens quite often (5-15 times a day) :(
edit: When it almost always occurs is when I put my game in windows mode, go to youtube, start a video, and go back to the game - very weird :S
@Lester: You definitely should get the 10.10e Hotfix drivers!

As example, my P5Q loves to overclock memory by 0.8V and underclock the CPU voltage. This is a generic MB flaw of the P5Q which everyone have. So, if I don't enter voltage manually, my MB will overclock the voltage. Stock is not always stock
Open a ticket on this in the troubleshooting section. After trying multiple drivers and you still get a TDR error, you need to look at other things then GFX card and drivers. I've used 10.10 WHQL to 10.10e and not gotten any TDR error. :)
I check the AMD game Catalyst driver download page to see if a new driver version has been released . When I went there today I saw a second AMD Catalyst Package which I never seen before. It was listed below the standard Catalyst Software Suite as AMD Catalyst Accelerated Parallel Processing (APP) Technology Edition. It is rather confusing. and there is not a lot of information on just what it is . ???
