Ati Eyefinity & Nvidia 3d vision + physx hybrid solution?

Post by Sicarius »

Hi,

Undoubtedly you've all heard of the hybrid solution with nVidia's PhysX in an ATI eyefinity environment.
Now i've had that working on a 6 screen hd5870 EF6 card paired with a 8800 GTX, the next challenge is to trick the drivers to think i hooked a 3D screen (or 3, or 6) to an Nvidia card, while in fact, much like the PhysX solution, theyre hooked to the ATI card.

Would this be at all possible?
There isn't anything comparable to be found on the web from what i could find.

Please post all your resources and advice below (and don't start about the price.. ;) )

From what I understand you are trying to get 3D vision wokring on an ATI card... this unfortunately is not possible, however ATI do have there own 3D system for 120hz displays, which I understand is compatible with the ati HD5xxx and HD6xxx series.
You may wish to try updating your ATI drivers for this if you have 120hz displays.
Also unlike nvidias 3D vision solution which will only work with monitors certified by nvidia, the ATI solution is open to any monitor that sports a refresh rate of at least 120hz.

If you are talking about the screens in your signature, they are not compatible with shutterglasses for any solution. If you just want anaglyph 3D (colored glasses), you can download software at http://www.iz3d.com for free and use it now with the AMD card. :)

Hmm Thats not really what i mean, i do mean the Nvidia certified solution, i do not want shutter glasses (I seriously hate that technology with passion and believe it should be taken out of production asap, I bought LCD to GET RID of the flicker.. )
I'm talking about polarized ones, for which i will purchase (a) new screen(s)

Everyone always said that Physx were impossible if you use the ati card as primary video source, but it works for me.. i can play Batman:AA on 3840x2048 with full native PhysX on (not saying it runs very well, physx are heavy for the NV8800 but it works)

So nobody heard of a solution like the one i'm mentioning?

nVidia's 3dvision doesn't support polarized screens, so you'll have to go with iz3d or tridef. I believe the iz3d monitor is capable of working multimonitor via triplehead2go. Each iz3d monitor requires two inputs, so 2 triplehead2go boxes can take two connections from one video card and split them to 3 iz3d monitors.
I don't know if other polarized monitors can do the same.

Several. :) Polarized solution as skrubol mentions. Here's sapphires version in action (uses Zalman with polarized glasses):
