30" + 2 x 20" setup for eyefinity?
30" + 2 x 20" setup for eyefinity?
I know this has been asked but has anyone heard if eyefinity will ever support setups with different resolution monitors? like 2650x1600 +1200x1600+1200x1600? Would be oh so nice if so. Seems like a huge limition having to use all the same monitors...
cant be done right, and no word on the future of eyefinity with a setup like the above?

I can tell you right now, mixed resoutions don't work. Even if they make a perfect rectangle, it wont work.
You have to use SoftTh to get it too work.

Re: 30" + 2 x 20" setup for eyefinity?
I have to disagree that mixed resolutions do not work with Eyefinity. I know this from the fact that my first effort with Eyefinity was using a 23 inch LCD and two 24 inch LCDs. The native resolution of the 23 inch was 1680x1050 and the native res of the 24 inch ones is 1920x1080. Eyefinity DOES work.
However, what does NOT work is Bezel Compensation. The difference in the screen resolution has to be very, very minimal in order to get Bezel Compensation to work.
Now....whether or not Eyefinity will work with a combination that you have asked about, I can't say for sure. The differences may be just too much. So, checking around online for others who may have had success with this is the option I would go for.
Good luck!

Re: 30" + 2 x 20" setup for eyefinity?
Ok so i just hooked up my 22" with two of my 24" monitors and tested.
22" res: 1680x1050
24" res: 1920x1080
I could enable eyefinity, but it seems like it set 1680x1050 on all of them and scaled it to fit.
The image quality was pretty much crap on the 22" (could be the monitor that is bad.. it is old and has logged a loooot of hours on active duty) but the quality on the two 24" monitors was ok.. atleast i could read this text on them, but not as good as it is when i use all 3 24" in eyefinity.

I actually could increase my 22 inch LCD to 1920x1080 using the HDMI cable. But, the IQ on it wasn't quite as good as it was (and IS) on my 24 inch ones that have native 1080. I've since opted for three exactly the same 24 inch Viewsonics that are working fabulously! The 22 inch one is now working on my second PC as a single screen.

Re: 30" + 2 x 20" setup for eyefinity?
Let me clarify. To use eyefinity, each and every monitor has to display the same resolution over each panel. The panels can be different sizes and shapes, but the resolution being shot to them will all be the same. 1200x1600 being stretched to 2560x1600 looks bad. Unless you do it pixel per pixel and move the outer monitors in.
